Retirement - pros and cons?

I am currently on my second character. That means that I have already retired once and am about to retire again (am on level 30). I know that by retiring I gain Loom point and an experience multiplier but is it possible to just carry on levelling up? If so, what are the benefits of doing that and will there come a point where I am required to retire whether I want to or not? I'm asking this question because when I retired last time, I spent a while having to level up again and having to wear crap armour etc and found it frustrating

Just keep retiring intill your gen 16 since that when the xp bonus cap stops I believe, than the graind to level 32+ is easier, through if you want to graind without the xp bonus it takes longer and is alot more painful unless your getting your xp from strat battles.

Of course you can get rich from retiring at the higher levels (32-35) since they give bonus heirloompoints

The only con I can really think of is the restarting to a peasant through I always find those periods enjoyable, nothing better than getting a kill at level 1 :)

Someone somewhere did the math, stating that getting to generation six, then heading to 35, is fastest if a high level is your goal.  Anything before or after generation six means more experience to grind overall.

If you hate playing as a peasant you can retire at lvl 32. It's basically double the XP required to get to 31 and you get 2 loom points, but only 1/4 of your time is spent under level 30, 1/4 is spent at 30, and 1/2 at 31 so a lot more quality time as a high level. The one downside is you gain gen bonus exp slower.

Coolio. One last question: When I retire (character 2) and rename myself as character 3, when I log into CRPG next I don't see my new name but I'm still shown as character 2?? Why??

mmm could be a bug or You need to reselect the character at the top left menu. You could had been playing on character 2 than retired while playing renaming it to character 3 so the server detects character 2 is a "new" character and creates a table for him on the site.

Remember you have to rename yourself  ingame too so you "Select" that character

Edit: It's not a bug since your Main Character (Paulinius_III)  is showing up correctly on the database

You should retire at lvl 31 or 32 until you have at least these loomed at +3 :

-Horse (if cav)
-Body
-Weapon
-Hand
-Head
-Leg (optional)

Don't go for lvl 33 or more until you have these bought in that order.

Don't forget to NEVER use your loom point on an item ! You can trade any +3 item for 2 Loom points and some golds (between 0 and 200k dependign the item). So you'll get one R3 every two retirement if you are doing well.

I always thought it was Weapon, Horse, Body, Hand, Head than legs

Depends on the weapon. Some like 1h, shield, archery/xbow, spears, gain a lot more from looming than stuff like greatswords and poleaxes.

I would say hand armor comes first, as long as you choose something medium or light.  Then any class you pick can use it, even ranged.

It is like this for anyone who want to be useful ASAP.

I'd go with including weapon as shield as well, but I prefer not heirloom that.

@OP

I always retire at 32 most of the time, currently aiming for lvl 33-34 at generation 5 with 2 million gold, +3 rus scale, +3 arabian cavalry sword, +3 nordic war sword, +3 danish (exchanging this), +3 destrier
You should be punished for having a shitty attitude.

If u want a high level its the best if u dont retire. U need 966 hours with x5 to get the exp back.  That mean that u have to gain over 298 Million Exp to get the exp back which u lost for the retirement.

But its better to be a lvl 31 full loomed as an lvl 35 without loom.
