Kim Kallstrom has completed a medical as his proposed loan to Arsenal moves closer.

The Sweden midfielder emerged as a surprise target for Arsene Wenger early on deadline-day, and the deal is on track to go through ahead of the 11pm cut-off point.

Wenger entered the market after seeing his midfield options dwindle significantly in recent days.

Kim Kallstrom has a back injury and will not play in the next five Arsenal games, Sky sources understand.

Arsene Wenger signed the Spartak Moscow midfielder as a stop-gap on deadline day after losing Mathieu Flamini to suspension and Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere to injury.

Arsenal went ahead with the loan deal in the full knowledge Kallstrom had an injury which would delay his debut.

Of course I'm happy for Kimmen and it's great for swedish football and all, but let's be real, he's not a great player. Al though, I hope he kicks all the doubters (including me) in the nuts and do a great job, if he doesnt get sent back to Russia, that is.
