I too think we should leave models as they are and change weapon lengths because it is always fun when you get killed half a meter away from the actual weapon model.

If anything, weapon lengths should always be shorter than the model to prevent such occurances.

The katana's length was based on the size of the person it was made for and his sword style. There is no point in changing the length of it in a game where everyone is the same size and as someone pointed out adding length will just make it a bastard sword and make the game duller. If you wanna be a true samurai in-game use on of their real primary weapon (not the katana which wasn't even popular until right before the EDO PERIOD the time of peace) such as the lance on a horse or bow or naginata (which was rarer)

The Yari was also a very popular weapon for use in warfare, both on foot and on horseback.
