New York Times article says North Korea is threatening to nuke Japan, South Korea, and the United States.

Quote
"With their targets set, our intercontinental ballistic missiles and other missiles are on a standby, loaded with lighter, smaller and diversified nuclear warheads," said Kang Pyo-yong, a three-star general and vice defense minister of North Korea. "If we push the button, they will blast off and their barrage will turn Washington, the stronghold of American imperialists and the nest of evil, and its followers, into a sea of fire.”

South Korea is taking these threats seriously saying they will retaliate to any nuclear attack by destroying Kim Jong-un's regime.  The United States doubts that North Korea has long-range missile capability while South Korean officials speculate that the threats are bluffs meant to infuse nationalism and crisis into North Koreans.  If both are even partially mistaken, however, the potential for destruction would be on the likes of Hiroshima and Nagasaki or worse.  Someone could argue that this is another example of the Occident meddling in another countries affairs, and that is reasonable, but consider that this is not just a case of capitalist nations hampering the economic prosperity of an isolated economy.  They are sanctioning a highly oppressive totalitarian regime.

North Korea rightfully reacts to the last week's US provocation... North Korean Great Leader Kim Jong-un was outraged to learn, that the agreements signed by him and president Obama, were not officially recognized by US government.

Barak Obama received a heartwarming welcome from North Korean Leader, during his alleged visit to Pyongyang last week:

Short after the visit, Kim Jong-un realized, that he was once again deceived by capitalist pigs, despite his recent attempts to improve international relationships.

Is he crazy enough to think that he could win that war?  That's the really troubling question here.

It's not a question of winning the war. It's a question of scaring the world with the threat of a nuke so they can do whatever they want without sanctions. I reckon the only reason the United States hasn't engaged in any offensive action against N. Korea (or any country with a nuke, for that matter) is due to their nuclear capability. Sending troops to N. Korea is akin to punching out a guy with a gun. Sure, you'll probably beat him up, but someone's going to get shot, unless you shoot first, and I don't think many Americans, much less our elected officials, would want to use nuclear weapons again. Granted, all publicly available evidence suggest that they wouldn't be able to get a nuke on American soil, but there's S. Korea, China, Japan, &c.

Obviously, if they do attack someone, shit is going down, but I don't see any U.N country attacking first.

Which they only had for 3 years and even then these nuclear capabilities are questionable, while they have been a completely rogue state for a lot longer than that. So I reckon those reasons are more in the line of budget deficits, international public opinion and a lack of any real motives to attack North Korea.

I agree with Nehvar that the scary thing is that one man has the control over nuclear weapons, while his subordinates regard him as some kind of god, which means that if he goes derp and loses sight of the obvious bad consequences of nuking South Korea or something, nobody is going to stop him.

China doesn't want to deal with North Korean refugees, and South Korea thinks that reunification is a Good Idea but also do not want to deal with a massive refugee crisis and economic recession.

Considering how we treated Iraq I honestly don't blame any nation for actually WANTING to build and use WMD/nuclear weapons, since Iraq didn't really anymore so we were able to lie that they did and rape their country.

Basically you have the evil Chinese communist regime to thank 100 percent for the suffering of millions of north Koreans by using force of arms to stop unification in the 50's.  One of the few times where America was on the Right Side, as history has proven.

Anyways, North Korea would never do anything anyways.  They are too reliant on humanitarian assistance internationally, despite all the sanctions.  If they ever do anything though, it would be a great opportunity to go to war with China and really obliterate that country, create a South China Sea confederacy of democratic countries that all trade with America, forcefully unify Korea, and overthrow the Chinese regime ~realpolitik

America's business elite would not benefit from destroying or overthrowing Chinese government because they already get cheap labor.  See "iPhone".
