1279AD or whatever it was.

I am also waiting for the next major release for both Prophesy of Pendor and Sword of Damocles mods, but i guess those might take a while :(

Final release? The one i am talking about is Version 4, that would finally be a true port of it.

There's some really good mods out there, but all my favorites really fuck up the melee animations, which usually ruins the mod for me.

Native expansion is good

My favorite is getting the warband battle sizer (to make larger battles) and also TweakMB to configure your own settings.

Floris. Floris, all the way. And if you don't like the new combat animations it uses, there are guides on its forums to replace them with the native.

This.

Lazarou's animations look flashy and cool when you see it in a trailer or video, but it's horrible for actual gameplay.

1257AD is the most developed and most historically accurate mod out there, also has the most and best unique models and textures of any mod. As former developer I might be biased, though, but I haven't played any Medieval setting mod that compares to it, for any game.

Light and Darkness is pretty good. It's not a kingdom building mod like Pendor or Damacles more of a RPG adventure instead, it moves quickly and is well done.

Yeah, and I was freaking happy when Freelancer mod was 'implemented'.

Prophesy of Pendor is the most fun I have had in singleplayer, ridiculous mod but there is loads of interesting stuff to do. My second favourite mod is Sword of Damocles and my third probably The Eagle and the Radiant Cross, but that one never made it to Warband as far as I know.

I thought Brytenwalda was pretty boring because of the very limited item/troop variety, due to sticking to one culture and area. Those are the things that make a good mod for me, interesting troops and nice items.

I thought 1257 also a had a very limited item selection and troops looked very similar for most factions. I wanted to make myself a nice Sicilian knight with some cool Sicilian items but there weren't any. I haven't played it that much though. I don't think dozens of factions works very well with the Warband war system anyway. It is so much more interesting with a smaller number of factions.

You can tick whether you want to use Native or new ones inside the installer now, I didn't but replacing the actions.txt with the Native one also seemed to fix the animations. Floris is a weird mod though, just a bunch of changes slabbed together, it doesn't seem a well crafted experience like Prophesy of Pendor or Sword of Damocles.

Everything mentioned so far is great. Hated Floris until I tweaked which mods were in it, then I loved it. Loved 1257 and PoP, also enjoyed Sword of Damocles. Never got Brytenwalda to run without crashing instantly.
You think you're pretty smart with your dago mustache and your greasy hair.

I guess I just felt like it was the only mod that corrected more issues than it introduced. Their goal was really to expand/fix the original game, and I felt they succeeded in that regard. But yeah, if you want original, innovative content, there may be better options.
