I certainly don't play for stats!  I play because this game is a blast!  From your comments, "consider the time sink of crpg, thousands of hours wasted grinding for stats", it seems you're concerned with stats.  I've never felt like I'm grinding... cause I don't think twice about stats or leveling up.  I just care about getting better at fighting... blocking, footwork, feinting.  All which I suck decently at.  But I have gotten better.  And I have had a blast doing so.

Different opinions surely.  But odd that someone who thinks this is a waste of a game keeps up the the forums regularly.  Why not spend that time, "not grinding" in those hyper-paced, "built for a 12 year old" type games.

So true that M&B is one of the best strategic game ever made.

When you see that creators were independents and did a masterpiece like that you can just be affraid by their skills. I played more like 5xx hours and M&B in native expansion  and never be fed up of the gameplay and the depth...

It s just a beautiful present we got with this M&B serie.

Here's the best explanation so far that I've found.
Quote
Mount & Blade: Warband can be a very overwhelming game given the sheer amount of complexity, but gamers who stick with it and get past the steep learning curve will have a good time.

The thing with games like Chivalry is that there IS no learning curve except for the 1-2 hours, while in warband I'm still becoming a better player after 2500 hours. Also a reason why Chivalry will become a more liked game by the majority of gamers, while we know what a gem Warband is and what they're missing out on.
You should be punished for having a shitty attitude.

M&B is kind of out of steam as far as growth potential because of it's age. That's just the way it is. Fortunately even Taleworlds knows this so they are making M&B2, which will hopefully just take all the best things of M&B (the 5 points Mallets listed) and just improve them in a way they could do with a new engine & bigger budget while not doing anything stupid like limiting the open sandbox to rails, killing the modability or dumbing down the combat for the CoD crowd.

And of course I also hope the Donkey crew can deliver also, the more games attempting to bring this the merrier.

I would truly be sad if the kind of melee combat that is possible only in MB:warband and cRPG were to die out because this one became "too dated" (i'd probably still play it) and no new games were able to keep that same mechanics and experience.

You are right - NO other game has this right now.

MB:Warband and cRPG are easy to learn (left click does this, right click does that)....ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE to master....and thats what makes it so amazing of a game.   As new players struggle through the different challenges of swing directions, timing, footwork, feinting, manual blocking, chambering, etc....they slowly see themselves getting better.

It just takes people that can see the the potential and the skill in the system, and put in the diligence and self discipline to get there....which, albeit is not much of the gaming population....but enough.

I really hope neither MB2 or chadz&co sell out on ANYTHING.  This melee combat system we have right here in cRPG is TOO unique and great to let die out.

I play for both, fun and stats. Unfortunately RPG's and MMO's have spoiled me a bit. If a game doesn't have something to constantly work for (leveling up, unlocking things, etc.) then I lose interest quickly or as soon I unlock it all I stop playing it, even if it's a good game (chivalry is a good example). So I think the constant progression in c-rpg, paired with the insane amount of fun it is, has kept me addicted since the day I installed.
I'm rock, nerf paper, scissors is fine. Welcome to c-RPG.

I've never been a big fan of grinding games, or "unlocks", I prefer to play the games for what they are, and let people's individual skill be the deciding factor (more so than how many leet items/perks you've unlocked).  I do like the customization of your stats/atts that make the game so unique, but the main reason I'm even playing cRPG is because of the robust single player for M&B and Warband, and the sweet mods that came with it.  Native MP was a lot of fun too (even with all it's glaring flaws).

There's just no combat system like this in any other games i know of.  Who wouldn't love playing internet knights slaughtering peasants?

Heard a little about it a month or two back. Will they be adding new unlocks or anything of the sort? If so I'll get back into it, until I unlock it all in 2 days again that is

Yeah, I could see myself enjoying Chivalry every now and then... with friends.  Playing a good game, with fun pals, is always the best.

However, I can play cRPG for hours... all by my lonesome.  Which is very rare for me.  Without the company of friends, I usually tire of games fairly quickly.  However, I've played tons of cRPG without any friends.  I started playing with friends.  And they stuck around for a weeks.  But even after they were long gone, I found myself still loving this game.  Still playing it everyday.  A new job (thus moving to a new city) ended my playing for a good while.  But now after 8 months away, I'm back... and loving it as ever.

I've always said this about cRPG... it's my own defining quote about the game/mod.

Quote
"I've never had so much fun, sucking at a game!"

And in truth, I've never had so much fun trying to get better at a game!

just few things who maked me laugh so hard about future chadz project :

from : http://meleegaming.com/

We are aiming high - we are aiming for creating the most advanced melee combat system ever - one that beats Chivalry, Warband and WotR. This means that it's easy to learn, and hard, or even impossible, to master perfectly. There will be no skill ceiling, no neverending duels, because in the end, one will do that deadly mistake.
yeah sure lol good luck guys with 35,000 € when chivalry got more than $85,934 on kick starter but it costed rly more .. and it was a pro team ...
