login"As of today, this is our land, come back with your armies, or do not come back at all."Thus the herald was expulsed, and never to be seen again... First encounter, first enemy... But what of the rest?
"The Shu Han to the west? Their domain is great, but they recently established it. Send them a gift of gold and a small party of decently equiped men to be handed over to them."
"The Peace Breakers to the north? We have no quarrel with them, nor do we desire their land. Send them a letter of friendship, to encourage peace between us."
"The Knights who says Ni to the east? They have been good with us in the past, we want them to prospere as much as we do. Send them our best wishes and propositions of mutual interest."
"The Druzhinas and the Foxes to the south? They hold a fief in our vicinity. Let them be in the dark, while we prepare our host!"
Thus dealt was the matters of diplomacy.
All messengers went out at dusk, and the long wait for their return began.
Without expectation, the lord returned to the management of the fief itself for the next days.
All able men without situation were to be enlisted and trained in the art of war.
Heavily armed caravans were sent into far and dangerous places, to reap the most benefice.
New weapons and armors were produced, using the late lord craftmen, until better suited ones were found.
A watch tower was under construction in the hills to the north.
It was barely erected when suddenly the watchmen alerted the castle...

login"An unknown party is coming from the Sarranid desert!"It is a wicked thing to lust for action, when action in this land and place means the death of men.
Even then, most of the host that came through the gate of this castle without a fight, a mere week ago, thirsted for battle.
Further monitoring showed that the foreign group numbered to about five hundred soldiers.
They were transporting a cargo of several thousand crates of goods, and were to pass straight accros our land!
An intercepting force of one thousand strongly equiped men were summoned and sent to meet them between the castle and the rhodok mountains, on flat ground, with Butan at the lead.
They spotted us and turned to defend themselves.

loginThe intercepting force prepare for the attackThen the raiding party charged straight on : confident in their numbers and prowess in battle, they did not care much for formations and attacked like so many little groups of fierce men.
Exploiting this flaw, and using every terrain features at their advantages, the defenders repelled the attack with fewer losses than the overwhelming attacking party.
Following charges showed the same result and even more terrible was their guerilla use of their cavalry.
They maimed every single men who were lagging behind or too eager to charge alone.
The battle outcome was unclear, morale was dropping: fostering all troops into one wave, the general ordered a full charge to be done at once.
This order was the last of the battle.

login"Look! Our rear is attacked! The royal flag is burning down! The day is lost!!!"Panic took control of the attacking army; all those who were already clashing with the enemy either fought to the death or dropped their weapons and were executed on the spot.
The others retreated in disorder, then began to run for their lives, officers and soldiers alike.
All this while their foes shouted : "Barabes does not fall so easily!" the day was indeed lost.
The clever enemy had sent a small mounted forces, accompanied by their most skilled soldiers, to plunder the royal bagage left mostly unguarded, way behind the main host.
On the thousand raiders, four hundred died and the rest fled.
The opposing side suffered only two hundred dead and wounded, and added to their caravans everything they could take from the battlefield.
