Biggest issue is glancing on high armor players even with high PS

I think it's already pretty great as an all-around budget weapon.

-Halts horses excellently
-Sheathable
-Usable with shield
-Nearly as much pierce as the heavy lance
-Nearly as long and fast as the light lance
-Extremely long sideswings

It may not be able to kill quickly, but getting hits in is definitely available for any style of play (hoplite, both hands, cav). It is an excellent support weapon for my 1h/polearm. Although my character has 8PS and 96 polearm wpf.. it may indeed be weaker for other builds, but it's dirt cheap.

I also always seem to glance on my thrust.  I mean all the time.  I am a pretty good dueler.  Is there a trick to the thrust I need to know about?

That would probably glance a lot. You are, so the only thing I could really say is to try to get the 0.5s holding window and a little bit of speed-bonus. Stabs almost always hit when they try to run towards you from a distance, too, my experience with me on the receiving end most of the time.

Scythe is the longest side swinging weapon. And fauchards are already perfect IMO, good combination of speed/utility/price.

Some guy in plate with a fauchard on siege yesterday, was hitting me for like 3-5 damage per swing. But it is about the highest utility weapon in the game, and cheap to boot, so you should give up damage.
