Many of the ancient nomadic tribes who settled in modern Turkey are described in ancient sources as blonde haired, and so were many Celtic Galatians who came there as mercenaries for the Diadochi in great numbers, not to mention the many Vikings who sailed there later, as merchants, raiders and mercenaries, when dark hair were more predominant in Southern Europe than in the past (many Patrician Romans in the Republic and Early Principate were blond for example, and so were many ancient Greeks).
Anatolia is and lies near the most important transit areas between Europe, Asia and even Africa, and the genepool must be quite varied.
