Soooo what happened? We're recruiting troops like what from your recent "we're at war with you" post and I take a break for four days (mostly stuffing my face with turkey and pie...MURICA!). I get back and you're no longer on the map?

TEARS I DEMAND AN EXPLANATION!

Honestly?

We got bored and changed our minds on what we wanted to do in Strategus.
All current and previous relations still stand unless noted or we changed our mind which may or may not include a public notice (Teutonics are still a valued ally, obviously, as for everyone else you can freely speculate as you wish or contact us for possible clarification or wait for us to make a clarification if we deem it neccessary).

I'm not normal and I don't pretend so, my approach is pretty much a bomb crescendo.
Death is a fun way to pass the time though, several little bullets moving in staccato.
The terror of my reign will live on in infamy, singing when they die like a dead man's symphony.

Us getting bored? Only on Coalition and Fallen forums.
Us and Teutonics? Very much so.

Us getting bored? Only on Coalition and Fallen forums.
Us and Teutonics? Very much so.

I'll elaborate on the boredom a little bit.

NA Fallen is small. Very small. As we've talked about elsewhere, we were entirely alone this Strat, excepting cross-border trades and that we one time went into EU lands to buy equipment from EU Coalition (paying full price). We never actually used that equipment in any battles, however. Everything we've used to this point has been accumulated on NA side alone.

But we're small. When you're small, there's still a baseline amount of work that has to get done to operate effectively and few people to spread that work out to. We're mostly older players, graduate students and full-time workers. Average age is around 25-26. The "input" of work wasn't matching the "output" of enjoyment, especially since so much was done by so few (SmilingDaemon and Tears specifically).

We've kept it a secret until now as it could do us no good to release it, but at our peak membership we were only 22 people large, but that dwindled down to only 12 quickly and then about 8-10 for the past month. And calling those 8-10 "active" is being extremely generous- real life called, from our families at holiday season to busy days at work to graduate student final exams, so we had more important priorities.

Let's rewind a minute.

NA Archer Death Squad is coming back, suckers.  8-)

It just seems odd that you guys would be preparing to make what seemed to be a last stand, and then turn it over and hide tail and run. Not calling you cowards, just wasn't sure why you'd do that. And yeah, being small and having few active players can be a big shitter. Look forward to seeing you guys back in range squad though.

lol, you can try to spin it as "run and hide" but that's about as believable as Tears' being perfectly straight or Smoothrich being able to hold down a job. We weren't "preparing" for a last stand: we HAD our last stand. We won, against player numbers that should have beaten us but did not. So what do you do when you're at that point? We made the only reasonable choice given the circumstances: stop wasting our time.

We're done with normal Strat play, perhaps forever. We quit to devote our attention to something more fun. I picked Planetside 2, as you well know. It makes Strat battles seem like tea parties. Smiling and Hill are rocking out in Warhammer 40k. Loki, Boss, etc. are splitting between PS2 and a few other things that don't take 3 weeks to mount and exciting evening of gaming. We get all the pleasures of big fights and strategic coordination without the headache of spreadsheets and impracticality of contacting the dozens of people necessary to get things done diplomatically.

We could have just hung the faction around like a stubborn rotting apple on its mother branch, but why? Nobody gets anything out of it, us least of all with that nagging reminder of always having a hundred things to do just in case a battle finally comes up (which we didn't see happening - speaking of running, why did Shik leave? Where are the Chaos armies? Pale Horsemen? Bueller?).

NA Coalition achieved our objectives, modest as they may have been. We cast the world into a spin, wreaked a little havoc, and never got knocked out by anything but by our own decision. We can own that choice with our head held high. The colonialist Marchlords of the Fallen Brigade now return to their brothers to find blood to shed elsewhere.

If NA Strategus continues at the pace its going, we'll spend our precious time somewhere far more interesting. And I say this more as an indictment of the game and its mechanics than the playerbase. I'm glad we had worthy enemies galore, I just wish the mechanics made their attacks on us or our own counterattacks worthwhile. They weren't, and here we are. I've been bored into space and landed on Auraxis.

I know what you guys mean. Coordinating your players is hard work and you can get instant gratification in other games. I play Planet Side 2 as well and am considering guns of icarus. but I always come back to crpg and watching dots on the strat map. So I guess war with NA Coalition is over before we got a chance to assail you with the most amazing peasant armies in the land. oh well, maybe next round.

I did think it was pretty silly that so many factions declared war when none of them were immediately prepared to fight.

I know what it's like to get bored with this slow browser gameplay. FCC was bored into space last Strategus, though I think Auraxis is a much better place than where we landed. Poor Matey is still lost in space!

People will try to say that you were cowards, or that you left because you lost a war, but they are, of course, full of shit. Fact is Strategus can get very boring, especially this time of the year when so many new games are being released.

So, do you CHAOS, FIDLGB, Occitan folks have plans on making legitimate war with Teutonic? They've got the whole TAMDA thing which would make it very interesting, I think. Technically, I'd say a state of war exists between those that were at war with coalition and Teutonic. You know, since they have a military alliance.

Sup with that? I'd like for you guys should go ahead and make a nice big war that everyone can fight in by going in and fucking with someone in TAMDA, but that's just me.

Or if you wanted a war, you could just go and attack FCC, I bet that would go well.

What are the actual member counts of CHAOS and FIDLGB in Strategus anyway?

Speaking for CHAOS to the best of my knowledge.

In the Strat Faction: 23
People active on the map: 10
Other (fief bros or people just passing any gold they earn from cRPG play): I think 5, but I'll say 5-10.

I think that's a pretty accurate picture of it. We wanted to fight with the NA Fallen branch because for all we knew they were at a similar number of active members and they were proximal; as we were discussing the idea and about to do something, Occitan declared war which wasn't something we, or at least I, expected.
