1hr Protection for Attacking Army Not Working Properly

We just completed this battle:

As soon as the battle ended our guy popped quick march to head away from the area and was immediately attacked, with no 1 hour protection that should be there.

Maybe the protection doesn't count against the army that was just involved in the fight?

As I know, the protection works only for the winner. If you had been attacker, then it is OK, that you were attacked after the battle you had lost it.

As attacker, had you WON the battle, then YES you get it. Unfortunately, you did not, therefore, it doesn't work.

Defenders don't get the 1 hour if attacked(they may, I'm not positive). So, you basically lost a battle as attacker meaning you were available to counterattack.
