TUNDRA AREA MUTUAL DEFENSE AGREEMENT
(TAMDA)

------------------

The TUNDRA AREA MUTUAL DEFENSE AGREEMENT (TAMDA) is a collaboration between landowners in the tundra area of Calradia, stating that member factions shall come to the defensive aid of other member factions of the agreement.  TAMDA stands to safeguard the tundra area from hostile invasion through the combined forces of the member
factions, and the agreement between those members to provide defensive aid to one another in the form of sufficiently armed armies in the event of attack from without.

- If a member faction of TAMDA is attacked, all other member factions agree to assist in the defense of that faction with sufficiently armed armies in as timely a manner as possible.
(A sufficiently armed army is at least "armed", and consists of at least 500+ troops, unless less is required)

- The terms of TAMDA only extend to the holdings & members of the member factions that are
located WITHIN the tundra area.  If a holding or member of a member faction that is located
outside the tundra area is attacked, the other member factions are not REQUIRED to assist (but may choose to do so anyhow).

- Under the terms of TAMDA, the member factions are also required to collaborate in the preemptive
defense of the tundra area by joining forces to intercept apparent hostile threats moving through the tundra area.

- TAMDA acts as a Non-Aggression Pact between the member factions for the duration of their
membership within the agreement.

- TAMDA is a DEFENSIVE AGREEMENT only.  Its existence is to protect the tundra lands from outside
invasion, and it has no agreement of offensive collaboration.   

- Membership in TAMDA is granted by the collaborative agreement of the existing member factions.

- Membership in TAMDA is NOT meant to be a "safeguard" at home while member factions initiate
offensive wars elsewhere.  Member factions that are deemed to be a liability by their own
offensive initiatives will be removed from TAMDA to protect the other member factions.

*NOTE:  Agreement applies to any area controlled by member factions -AND- tiled with snow on the map (tundra) *

Additionally, FCC has stated that they will provide assistance to any small clan in the tundra area (within the TAMDA or not) that finds itself being invaded by a hostile large clan, but they will not get involved in tundra wars between small clans.

Most of our holdings are outside the tundra.  However, the Free Companies of Calradia agrees to defend and support the other tundra clans (whether they are in this agreement or not) against any incursion by a LARGE clan (25+ members).  We do this in the spirit of fair play.  If a 5 man faction attempts to take a fief from one of the smaller tundra clans, we would support these minor wars between small clans and feel it would be unjust for us as a 40+ member faction to get involved.

Any large/medium clan (25+ members), we would act to support the tundra clans against what has been happening in the desert (e.g. Hospitaller v Hero Party, VE v. Chevalieres).

P.S. I am sure Smoothrich or someone else will post some crap about our defensive support of BIRD clan - the key ingredient there is he is our liege lord and we are doing a purely defensive war, we have not been aggresive against any of hero_party's holdings, we are simply there to aid in a peace agreement being put together.  I would ask those people to instead post their opinions in the http://forum.meleegaming.com/diplomacy/megaclan-hero-party-attack-fledgling-bird-clan!!/ thread and leave this thread for its purpose - to discuss who wishes to be members of a mutual protection pact in the tundra.

Feel free to, just keep in mind our restrictions on small clan wars (addendum maybe)- we will do nothing if a small clan acts aggressively in the tundra, we think this will be a good thing to prevent it getting stale up here and also that we will act even if a non-member tundra clan is facing incursion by a 25+ member faction.
