The Heavy Great Sword uses that horrid texture from native. I guess they just slightly tweaked that one and gave it another name to create the other one as an excuse for adding yet another item.

I would not call this "easily distinguishable".

But it is, really. It is easy to recognise because of the edge which is kinda dark&light when it comes to Heavy Greatsword.

And seriously, I think there are more important things to be done than straightening textures of heavy greatsword

Without the heirloom pack, the sheath is the most notable difference between them. Also a bit of a side note, the sword of war looks like shit with the heirloom pack. (As does the HGS, which is kinda ugly without it anyway)

I don't use the heirloom models, and of all the things we can have the developers focus on, you want them to focus on the look of an item?

It's hard to find a place for this completely redundant sword. Maybe it could be an alternative to the Two Handed Sword, just longer, heavier, slower, and more cut oriented, but about the same price. Maybe something like 3 kg, 94 speed, 39 cut and 22 pierce.

But yeah, maybe we should find a better model for that.

Looks like one has blood groove, one does not. Indeed hard from in game but in pictures or when ghosting after death looking at weapons, I can tell the difference fairly well.

You forgot the part where it's 3.5 weight and that it has a thrust. Why are these two important? Because on a server that doesn't have broken block stun, stunning someone's block, then following up with a face thrust is a brutal combination. I've tried it myself on na_6 and it's extremely effective.
