Its same as wearing black in High School just to look different,melancholical and "deep". (Not judging here,everyone was a teenager once.)
Sorry but I think it should stay in high school,not in medieval battlefields.

The emos wear the strange armour.  Blackened armour was really done, not to be melancholy, but to save scrubbing the rust out.  Also it would make you a little less obvious on the battlefield.
