You can wear armor so you can take more hits. You can always get rid of one pack of arrows and take some good weapon to fight, as you can use decent armor now.

edit : i heard from some ppl archer with heavier armor is a bug and should be fixed

Well no real news on that, as far as I know that is something that was considered and still is but would require a full respec for everyone since it would screw many builds.
The ATH nerf showed that the drama involved with screwed builds is epic and this sure would kill most STR builds.
So can't give a definitive yes or no on this.
