Item Idea: Side/Half Quiver of Bolts

What if there was a third option for crossbow bolts: A small-capacity quiver for hybrid classes? Something with 4-6 bolts, Maybe a little more damage than plain bolts, cost about the same or more than steel bolts, and 0 slots?

You could carry a Crossbow, 1H wep, and 2 slot shield with the 0 slot bolts. Or a 2 slot 2H or polearm with a 1 slot shield.

It would have to be balanced around throwing, which fills a similar roll.

Actually, don't think this will be a too big problem with crossbows. Not like they run out of ammo most of them.

Making it easier to have a crossbow as a sidearm is a bad thing. It leads to everyone doing it, as we saw several patches ago and several patches before that and several patches before that. Don't go back to the days when the first minute of any battle was shielders cautiously walking forward with shields raised and 2h/polearm users cowering behind walls.

You don't sound like you played before this patch, or before that patch or before that all. Everyone and their grandma back then had a sniper crossbow (as it was called back then) as a side-arm, along with Sword of Tears or Cookies.

I actually like the idea of quivers with half amount of arrows/bolts. Problem is deciding how many slots they will take and looms etc.

Maybe as 0 slot its OP but it would probably be nice if it was a cheaper alternative for hybrids that know they wont fire that many shots.

My original idea was for it to be expensive, making it a "luxury" choice. Kind of like the bucklers are for shields. Sure, your 2h or polearm guy could carry an arbalest with 6 shots, but it will cost you 20k+ worth of equipment.

Compare the cost and effectiveness of 6 javelins or jarids vs 6 light or regular crossbow shots. What stats would make it balanced? Consider that throwing is a bigger stat/skill sink as well.

I'm sure there are equip setups I haven't thought of that would be unbalanced with this item. Tell me what I'm forgetting!!
