Fix Raiding!

Unuzdaq Castle
Population: 4500
Owner: NobleBeast_Knight_w_s_NI
Army: 15

Apart from Bashidiots winning the Lame-as-fuck-award again by raiding that castle, this stupid mechanism needs to be fixed! Come on, you tell me that 4500 ppl just watch the enemy running into their castle and taking all the equipment from it?

Make at least a part of the population stand up against the attackers. Sure its Ni's fault for transfering all troops into population but a raid with 1500 vs 15 is just a bad joke and a broken game mechanic. And as it is documented nowhere like most of the game its even more dangerous.

And again congratulations to Bashidiots for being so fucking lame. If you need this to win a battle against a small faction what will you do against larger ones? Ah I dont even want to know....

Just saw your UIF comrades the Brodnidiots want to share that award with you.

Where was the rage when 200 deserters raided my castle DoDnet... were was it!

Well the 5hour rule still applies for moving equipment out of the castle and onto a player, and its designed to counter people simply stacking 20k population (tickets without upkeep) and leaving a shit ton of gear lying around in the fief while they go AFK mode for the rest of the round.

Best counter to removing raiding would be to make population after the default level for each settlement cost the same as garrision troops. Would also encourage attacking, since stacking population would no longer be a viable way of avoiding upkeep, so you gotta do something with those tickets before they eat your gold up.
Smooth is the admin NA deserves. Not being that much better, EU deserves Thomek.

Raid function was retarded from the point it was introduced. There have been several threads about this, but our mighty developers just ignore them. And everyone exploiting that shit should be punished for that as it is clearly a broken mechanic and a lot of ppl don't know about it.

another problem with SIEGING which is why there are more raids, is attacker cannot withdraw from siege without basically free win for defenders.

There is a big difference in surrendering an open field fight and withdrawing from a siege attack.  Withdrawing from a siege attack should only lose like 10% of your troops/gear, not EVERYTHING like it is currently.

Why did you convert 3500 troops to pop? So you can avoid paying for an army? no shit people gonna raid that.

Raiding is fine, it's to prevent people from abusing free population tickets, they are a bonus that's it. Your gear inventories should match armies not population.

Perhaps removing the free tickets as "population" would be better.

Simply give a place to deposit or withdraw a maximum 200, 600, 1000 troops as "militia/town guard" in each fief, castle, and city respectively that cost nothing. They can be deposited or withdrawn at any time.

the silly part is a single raid is able to take the ENTIRE fief's inventory..thats ridiculous.  Raid is supposed to be quick/fast/ in & out.  Grab some shit and leave. Not....back up the moving trucks we are taking EVERYTHING.

Should be something involving ratio of raiding troops to defending troops killed that determines equipment weight you are able to take.

I'm with Digglez, I know why we have it, and as someone pointed out, you DO NOT want to have all population and no upkeep for battles, Other wise it would be near impossible to take a castle/city with 20,000 tickets (Which is what would happen) but at the same time its silly to have 2000 population and 0 army only to have everything taken. I think there should be a new formula..

- 1/4 the pop is used for a raid when no army is present, maybe even lower the gear by -2 or what not.
- Allow army and pop to be switched back and forth with a militia style, just make a heave penalty to do so (Cash or what not) this way it wont be abused.
- I have a few other idea's but the gf is telling me supper is ready, and its Sheppard's pie.. and I'm extremely hungry right now!

But you get the point, something needs to be done.. In my opinion anyway.

If you got no soldiers, and lotsa gear on your fief, you fucked up or didn't understand the mechanic.

Don't count on population, don't put valuable gear on those tickets. Any that fight for you is a (free) bonus. Solid mechanic.

You have a castle with 2000 men, lordly armour and shiny weapons, You raid that castle with 20 men and you think the general population just sit there while you take everything!?

To me its a cheap tactic, But your right, easy way to fix that is always have an army, And maybe that should be the standard for castles and cities, But villages!? villagers should be able to engage in a raid, Makes no sense to me to just have any small army wipe out a village with amazing gear, with out being able to use it due to this mechanic.

raid work fine for me atleast...but it shoudnt be battle like attack castle raid should be infront of gates..it should be like they are raiding not castle but countryside ..its more realistic and not confusing....and yes it shoudnt be raid - all inventory in castle lost...it should be some % depend of raiding army ..
