1 Day with peasant gear and one can buy full plate, weps included.
A few hours and one can have a decent outfit that does not cost a lot of upkeep.

Every now and then i still make a new character just because i like to develop a char from the ground up.
Buying better gear, seeing myself become better with i and getting new weapons to try out.

Developing your character (some call it grinding) is a part of crpg, if you do not enjoy that at all you are playing the wrong mod.
Yes being a high level is fun, but if you get it handed to you with little effort it won't be as enjoyable.

chinese grind fest? Ever played a grinding mmo? Doesnt sound like it.  :P

Leveling is easy as never, never has been that quick without any real effort, except for time. You don't need to be skilled, you don't need to kill people or use any gold to get xp/gold ticks.
Getting 50k gold doesn't take that long either. With new chars that is easily achieved at level ~ 25.

So your suggestion is, that leveling gets "easier" until what level? 30? So everyone is able to keep up with anyone else? The level doesn't matter to get kills. There are so many threads about this, this topic is so 2010.
Devs already said something about changing the level system btw, let's just wait for it. But this kind of threads is just annoying.

If new players don't even like the beginning of crpg, how could they like the game later on, at level 30+?

What Haboe says. Hardly can call crpg grind...

doesn't mean that cuz u had to grind they have to do so aswell...
unless u want the mod to die, cuz thats the case

eum btw, i'm not new mr genious, i've been playin this mod for 2 years now (gen 7), and unlike some ppl, i have a life... can play about max. 2 hours a day.

2 hours a day is enough to get a good amount of gold (unless you really wear heavy plate, just dont do it then) and xp as well. If you play since 2 years you should know how easy "grinding" became now.

this isn't meant for the everyday players, yes money income on a long run is very easy.
but the exp isn't...
getting 4mil exp to lvl 30 at avarage of x2-3 multiplier would take about 23-33 hours of being online on a server and winning some games
so it takes about 17 days IF you play every day.

a new player that isn't hardcore would have to play about 14 days(around level25-26) to be able to compete with other players, it doesn't sound much...
(dont forget that all the casual players of the mod have loomed items and are stronger and more skilled)

but imagine u join a game right now to enjoy it a little, you would have to wait 14 days before u can do so lol, and the worst part is that its useless

i'm not sayin they should come here and kick our asses the first day, but just being raped on the field and waiting 5mins to respawn isn't fun either

ye, the patch was supposed to be released 2 months ago lol, but it hasn't yet so...

On gen 1 you can easily reach lvl 21 in about 2-3 hours on EU5, with x1/x2 (and youll often have a higher multi there). So unless new players are dumb and join EU1/2 instead, they will never take that many hours you wrote there. And even if they join EU1/2 it will only take a bit more (maybe 4-6 hours), as the multi does more depend on the team than on a single person or the player himself.
For most builds such a level (24/25) isnt needed to do decent damage. A 2h/polearm can easily do well at level 15+, also vs 30+ players. But only by equipment and stats, probably never by skill. That will take some more time in many cases.

Looms are also not needed, especially not for a casual player that only plays for max 2 hours a day, or maybe not even on a regular basis. So a retirement isn't a must for them either.

btw that "announced" and "promised" patch wasn't about a change of the levelsystem either. Some dev or admin just said something about it once, but neither officially.

Remove leveling, remove looms, just a customizable fixed level 30 character. Completely balanced, accesible and grind free.

This. Current day cRPG is for pussies already.

If you like a level playing field, there's Native. Guess what, new players also suck at Native. A level playing field only gives the illusion of having a chance at killing consistently. When you know how to play, there's nothing wrong with cRPG.

New players are not weak because they are low level, lack heirlooms, or whatever other lame excuses reeking of ressentiment you see the less intelligent of them come up with. They are weak because the majority of them are, by the standards of cRPG, unskilled at every form of combat and unaware of the little nuances of the game that make all the difference in a real fight. I can say this with some authority because I was in the same position as them myself a few months back, sans whining.

I would be happy to provide some concrete examples I witnessed or experienced if they would serve to illustrate my point further.

This is the point. Everyone had "no skill" at the beginning. You know, that was why the warband beta was that amazing and fun!

The grind needs to decrease.

New players who want to join crpg have absolutely no chance of enjoying the game, why u ask?
-they've got no armor, no weapons
-are low level and cant do shit basically...

while older players:
- nowadays are at a avarage level of 32-3 easily. (being 30 isn't being avarage anymore cause ppl got sick of retiring and sucking for weeks to be able to do something again)
-have got the best items and fully loomed as wel

for a new player, even 10k is a lot of money, and getting 50k to get a normal set of armor is a lot of grind
It's true that they need something to look forward to, but not when its hopeless and not fun at all...
even the older player who would like to try out a new build have to kill themselves for it cuz the exp-curve is like a chinese grindfest mmo...

the underLvl20 server was a great idea but imo still not enough to have enough impact... so many rangers on it who are shooting naked peasants (some with loomed items...)
there is rly on reason to make ppl grind this much b4 they can enjoy the game. ALSO, paying repairs as gen 1 on underlvl20 server is a bad idea.

decrease the grind, let players get to 27-28 easier atleast, and making the experience curve less steep would increase playerbase.
it would also encourage the higher level players to retire more often, bringing the avarage level of players back down.

or simply changing the exp system back to what it used to be...

True... its not an easy game to start. But not because of the money! Its bcus there is more than one "Attack". And its not just point and shoot. Nor Hack and Slay. Its not like WoW. And thats why i really love it! And i'm glad that not everyone likes it - meaning that there's less stupid kids and anti-everything-players like in bigger communities.
