Back in the days there was some dedicated rageball players who enjoyed this game mode and were focused on it.

It's fun, less brainless than Siege when played properly, and you get the most XP and gold than any other gametype. I've noticed that all the new people to Rageball usually just try and duel people the whole map and not pay attention to the ball at all, perhaps this is what you're referring to.
