What's your favorite shield?

as much as it hurts me, I must agree with Tzar.
If you are trying to get the hell out of there, you are (should be) just trying to tank your way out, the moment you start returning the hits is when you stop running and have to get back into the fight and in that case, yes, the speed is noticeable, but if you are just trying to get out of there, the high resistance ones are usually better (except against shieldbreakers of course)

I was under the impression that shield speed factored into repeated blocks, but maybe people are hitting my side or feet where my shield isn't covering. When I get hit my shield goes down and all the hits start rolling in. So I guess TIL that shield speed is only for bringing the shield up?

or when you are fighting multiple opponents, you take a swing...then go to raise your shield and you are vulnerable for .25~ seconds longer because your shield is slow as shit.....so of course you get hit and its game over, u get gangbang stunlocked.

unloomed and only 5 shield skill is fucked with steel shield albeit it can take a serious beating, loomed however its awesome.

The delay with an 87 speed shield is significant enough that it limits your options compared to a 100 speed shield. Harder to sneak in attacks vs. multiple opponents, harder to feint dropping your block and still recover in time, etc.  However, speeds of 94+ might as well be 100. I wish there were more shields in the 90-100 speed range.

Specifically, a shield with stats averaged between the Heavy Round and Elite Cavalry would be my dream shield. 92 speed, 35 diameter, 300 HP, 18 armor, 6.5 weight.

Only downside to that shield would be the weight is low enough to allow it to be stunned by Nodachi, War Cleaver, Great Axes, Bardiches, etc. At 7.5 weight, the Heavy Round can only be stunned by 4+ weight weapons, which are fairly rare; Bar Maces, Mauls/Mallets, etc. To me, that's the most attractive aspect of being a shielder; you can block held attacks from almost anyone without fear of being block stunned, while still having a fast weapon (1h swords). Longsword may be fast, but you spend half your time unable to attack because of block stun.

Loom the round shield and you have your perfect shield.

I used it on strat for once and it was really annoying. Not just for me all shield wall failed. Somehow enemy archers shot us really easly. It can be good for solo but not for shieldwall imo.

Round Shield only has 14 armor when loomed, so even unloomed arbalests will shoot through it. With 19 armor, my +3 Heavy Round will stop all bolts excepts from loomed arbalests. The hybrid shield I described would stop ALL bolts when loomed to 22 armor.

So, loom the elite cav. It's even better.

Elite Cav trades too much coverage and durability for 'wasted' speed (especially when loomed, since the speed bonus from looming is worthless above 100). Not to mention at only 5.5 weight, it gets stunned by even Sword of War/Claymore.

This is why I'd like a shield between Heavy Round and Elite Cav.
