So many lame cav folk using lances, cause well what other option is there?

So, why not let the shorter "spear" class weapons be stab and swingable from a horse. Sacrifice a lance length for versatility.

This thread has completely derailed from what I posted..........Read It Again please.

I am asking if it is a good idea to give versatility to the "spear" length weapons.........ex. short spear, boar spear, spear, warspear, military sythe.

What is versatility?
Having or capable of many uses

How does versatility apply to spears on horseback?
Give the ability of either stabbing or side swinging the weapon from horseback

Why should we do such a thing?
Provide incentive to use a pole-arm that is not of the "lance" class on horseback.

Worthy Note:
The new patch of the game will supposedly cause lances to take up 2 inventory slots. So, if you think it OP that they will carry a lance and a spear(stab and swingable) back up, well that just wont be possible according to the new patch. Whenever that comes out.

No because you'll always get out ranged by the heavy lance.
You need length
I'd support a cheaper, but less damaging heavy lance. Same length but less damage and cheaper :)

Charge, bump & slash cavalry style is currently way harder than the common lancer bitches on sarranid horses, because of the failed horse balance. Sorry.

i think its fine as it is, im doing fine with my 1/2 handed axe. Honestly i think its fine as it is, when you are up against a lancer, just try to ride circles around him until you eventually get up close where his long lance cant do shit... thats what i do at least.

Cavalry is fine as it is.

I dare to disagree.

That said, many people are crying how OP cavalry is. Well guess what: it's actually UP and not OP. The only reason horsemen get those insane scores is that people of this community are too stupid to counter them in time. All it takes is too look around once you've spawned, instead of running straightforward and not giving a damn about anything.
Some will say things like "but i play this game for fun, no need to be so serious and actually care about what i do here"......it's fine with me, tho honestly i can't see any fun in spawning, start running, getting backstabbed by the first horseman that comes by and spending rest of the round spectating. If that was my idea of fun id just stare at the wall with some nice picture on it, instead of bothering to start the game.
Do you honestly think you have any sort of moral authority, Reyiz? Go genocide some more armenians and deny it ever happened, please, and stay in the middle east.

Worthy Note:

Take a look at spears and their weak, blunt SWING dmg. They would have same weak, blunt SWING dmg, but also a ability to swing from horseback, right?

Now take a look at MUCH better Hafted Blades...

You sir are correct in you assessment, however, the hafted blade does not have a stabbing motion from horseback.

Sacrifice a lance length, stabbing and couching for versatility heavily damaging swings from horseback.

Staves used to be stabbable and swingable, as Armagan intended, but cRPG devs, in their great and infinite and totally justified wisdom, removed the swingable status (??!!?). That might be what you were looking for.
