So many great albums made by Herge and the stories got better and better all the time on his career. Imo the best stories are Destination Moon and Explorers on the Moon. Too bad I can't read French and thus can't read them in original language. Discuss.

But he'll be around somewhere between Heaven and The Devil, because neither of them will take him in, and he'll be farting loudly and singing a filthy song.

The movie is fucking awesome. BTW Tintin has been my idol since I was a kid, even now as I admire the journalist profession.
When you stare into the abyss, the abyss stares back.

Read most of them in french, Tintin is just a mentally challenged doo-gooder that is super lucky anytime he gets into trouble. Also he lives in an incredibly manichean, racist and sexist world for our modern standards. The whole thing is devoid of actual humor, replacing it with a few pathetic characters you can laugh at. But all of this was a constant in the first half of the 20th century, I can't really blame Hergé.

I obviously was too old and knew too much when I read them.

Hmm.. Racism excisted in first albums, but I assume because Herge dint have any experience about africans, indians etc. Later he had travelled abrouad personally and realized that race doesn't have much to do how smart you are etc. And about sexism: yes, there ain't lot of women in Tintin's world, but I don't see them being shown stupider or anything than average male character in Tintin. Also what is great in Tintin is that theres no love stories that are seen billions of times.

About humour I'm not gonna fight, thats your personal opinion.
