Error - Connection to Server is Lost

At least 5 times per gaming session (about 2 -3 hours) I will get kicked from the server (usually NA 7 Defend the Virgin) with an error saying that "Connection to server is lost."  When I try to rejoin I get the error message saying "Your profile name is used by another player."

Any way to fix this glitch? 

(I'm assuming it's a glitch since I HAVE changed my password to no avail.)

It's not a glitch. If it's just you getting disconnected, the problem is with your connection. Check if you have packetloss, try connecting without a router (might be port blocks), check with your ISP if the problem is with the signal.

Thanks for the response.  And I am using an ethernet cable so I don't use a router.  And can you explain what packetloss is please?

TLDR: if certain amount of packets is lost during your gaming, you get disconnected, could be a clumsy connection, or someone running torrents in your network (those bitches are demanding)

Thanks... I did in fact read mostly all of that.  And what I gathered is...I'm screwed?  It seems that there is nothing I can do to decrease the probability of a lost packet except change internet...which I have no control over.  Am I right?

No, you're not right :p

Did you check if you have packet loss? Try pinging a website address:

- hold Windows button + R, type "cmd" and press enter (or click Start and then enter in "cmd" in the search box)
- type "ping www.google.com -n 10" and press enter (not sure what the cRPG server IP address is, but this will do for now)
- do it a few times, wait a few seconds between pings
- check the info it gives you in the end, for example:

Ping statistics for 173.194.35.177:
    Packets: Sent = 10, Received = 10, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 27ms, Maximum = 36ms, Average = 28ms

The bolded parts are important, paste them here. If you indeed have packet loss, we'll work from there.

so here are my results:

Ping statistics for 173.194.75.99:
   Packets: Sent = 10, Recieved =0, Lost = 10 (100% loss).

...well that went well. (for what its worth, I DID have an internet connection at the time, and could load websites, so its not due to the fact that I was disconnected.  I also sent this over wifi as opposed to ethernet, I will run a second test over ethernet later.)

You may have some adware or other malicious software that's leeching off your connection. I don't know any other cause, but then again I'm no expert!

FYI: I am using a college internet connection.  I had no problems like this last year, although I am in a different dorm this year.  Would there be any sort of safety protocols that are blocking me from testing the packet loss, or just any other obstacles unique for a campus internet that you would know of?  I am rather tech-savvy, but I must confess I know very little of internet and the like.

Yes, there probably is certain security enforced on your dorm network. I'm almost convinced you're getting disconnected because the router that wires the internet is blocking ports or something like that. Imo, best if you talk to the dorm network admin. Does other internet stuff work ok though?

Well he has to forward ports. Not sure what it is for Warband, think it's 7240 UDP.

Afaik, dorm networks have a strict no-filesharing policy so that means big no no to torrenting. And IIRC, torrent clients need open ports to function. My guess is, they closed all ports to prevent any bypass.

What's their policy on gaming? You could be honest and just say you'd like to play online games.

Well its a tech school. So that means a ton of nerds, like myself, and also a ton of gamers.  If they banned gaming 80% of the school would most likely leave.  And as I said I have had no issues with this in the past. Gaming is definitely accepted, but I know torrenting is not, cuz then the school can get sued since they are the ones technically sharing it and all.
