We'd like some feedback on the following nighttime system especially if you think it is exploitable.
1) You can set up to 18 hours of nighttime:
2) You cannot reinforce or send troops or equipment during your nighttime.
3) You cannot receive reinforcements when you are the attacking army during nighttime.
4) There is a penalty associated with your nighttime equal to 2*#hours - 16 (eg 10 hours of nighttime would be 4%)
5) The penalty only occurs during your nighttime and reduces income, increases troops costs, reduces movement speed, reduces recruitment rate
6) It takes 1 week for a new nighttime setting to come into effect and there is a further week long cooldown before it can be changed again.
I think you should only be able to use the night time system for fiefs, and not for armies in the field. You get attacked, tough titties you didn't do enough recon suck it up.
But I like the idea's in 2,3,4 and 5 so how about having a night time in EU and NA and have it set by the server, could make for some interesting planing. Bouncing from fief to fief to avoid the night time penalties and so on.
The only thing that I can think of atm as a negative would be people would hover on the board crossing from side to side to avoid the penalty so the invisible board would be come a trade run/bandit hot spot. Unless of course you use Knute's three kingdoms idea...
In fact! While I'm on the whole screw people having there own night time setting why not have EU/NA prime times set as the default period of attack for fiefs... Starts at 1800PST - 2200PST for the yanks and 1800GMT - 2200GMT for the filthy Eurotrash. Simple, problem as they say in some English speaking locals, solved.
