Acre server rules
« on: April 08, 2011, 03:56:57 pm »
We follow the EU server rules mostly, but with some changes.

Quote

"first rule of em all: common sense"
        ~ chadz

General rules

No exploiting of any kind
- NOT OK: Using a bug to gain undeserved benefits

Use the chat in a civilized manner
- NOT OK: Blatantly trolling admins
- NOT OK: Insulting other players continuously with very insulting language

Don't force duels
- It's one thing to be the last 2 left and have a nice duel, but don't cause your team to lose because you want to be "honorable" by dueling 1 on 1 when there are 5 people on your team.

No intentional teamwounding/teamkilling

No drawing/delaying the round on purpose (i.e. running away or camping unreachable places when you're one of the last people alive.)
- OK: If a group is camping an unreachable position, you must get down off of your unreachable position in a timely manner. Throwing a few things or shooting a few times then jumping while camping as a group is fine.

No racist names
No racist comments, whatsoever, no matter the situation.

No abuse of in-game chat (racism, insulting, griefing...)
- Have the same respect for the admins as they would for you. Don't insult them while they're doing their job. Remember, this is a clan server, so it's ruled by a hierarchy of administrators.
- Have the general respect for other players not to insult them in all caps in chat. If you can't play civil, then don't play. An admin might warn you if you're becoming a bit too harsh. (Joking is totally understandable.)

No random kick/ban polls. Always specify reason before starting a poll
- OK: poll-kicking a leecher
- OK: poll-kicking an intentional teamkiller
- OK: poll-kicking someone who clearly breaks the rules
- NOT OK: poll-kicking someone who involuntarily hurt you
- NOT OK: poll-kicking someone because you don't like his playstyle

No leeching (See brackets below)
- OK: Being a bad player and getting no kills
- NOT OK: Standing around away from keyboard. If you're away, switch to spectator mode.
- NOT OK: Running around naked without weapon. Not contributing is leeching, naked runners don't contribute.

Being an asshat is not alllowed (See brackets below)
- NOT OK: Teamkilling/teamhitting the person who horsebumped you.
- OK: hiding (e.g. in the hay)
- NOT OK: hiding when last man standing (e.g. delaying)
- OK: using a ladder to reach a roof that can't be reached normally
- OK: camping unreachable places in the middle of the round
- NOT OK: camping unreachable places when last group of men standing (e.g. delaying)
- NOT OK: exploiting invisible barriers
- NOT OK: going out of map bounds (if you can see unfinished parts of the map, then you should not be there)
- NOT OK: ladderpulting

Construction sites are allowed (See brackets below)
- OK: Placing them on hills or other defensible locations for protection.
- NOT OK: Placing them in passageways or to block off a tight location otherwise accessible.

* If you're stuck in a place on the map, change team to spectators or rejoin the server.
* If a clan member of Acre specifically does, indeed, act against these rules intentionally or unintentionally, he or she is usually corrected through VOIP. Do not think that clan members of Acre will get special treatment if they break the rules.

    * No offensive behavior anywhere

Pack your shit guys, we can't be offensive. Apparently hitting someone else with a sword will be a bannable offense!

25 vs 25 is good we think! Instead of having en massé crazed warriors dying by random tk or flying projectiles!

Btw, its more like EU/NA because EU players can play with 80 to 120 ping on this server, I call it decent!

It is right now, but no custom maps yet. I'll be working on that in the net few days. It's ready to play, though.

Why battle?  It seems like the least fun of the play modes.  This isnt 1998, team deathmatch isnt novel.  Waiting 2-5 minutes for a round to finish after you died.

Why not run a siege and also host voice coms (TS/vent/mumble) for teams to coordinate and get more team work going

Hosting voice comms costs a lot more extra money

Voicecoms use something like 1/10 the bandwidth & cpu of FPS servers.  I dont know how M&B compares to other games like TF2, BC2, all that call of duty crap, but I would imagine its in the ballpark.

Voicecoms are a drop in the bucket compared to game servers

Im not overally bothered about the bandwidth that systems such as Mumble and TS take up because yes it is marginal. However they do cost a lot. For one month for 75 slots so you can have a full server and a fair amount of Acre on is a surprising amout excess of $50 dollars a month. However mumble although not as good as TS is a lot cheaper.

If we purchase a mumble server, which we might, we'll have sections there for teams to chat on. Thanks for the idea.

As the name suggests, NYC (New York City).

Gives EU players the possibility of playing with americans with decent ping if you have good internet. It ranges from 80 to 130 ping.
