If its 1v1 and you fight against an equally armored guy with a Great (German or Danish) Sword, which weapon would you choose then?

try them all and then go back to German GS. When you play on battle and get run down by lots of horses you'll learn to love stabbing more.

*PS i'm one of the noobs who run in stab and run out* it only works if enemy let you, all they need to do is stand together and block, but get a bunch of ppl together and logic goes out of window:)

But seriously German GS is really good allrounder, i bought it because it looks like the Templar sword from film Ironclad originally (i'm fickle like that) but its very good. Best way is wait until i die, which doesn't usually take long and pick up mine and try it out

HBS/Longsword.  Claymore's my favorite top tier, but I settled with the german my first gen playing.


Honestly though man, don't underestimate the other ones around.  Dadao and Miaodao are phenominal swords.  Couple people will argue in favor of the 'regular' Great Sword.  Pick what looks coolest, or sleekest to you.  Half the game is feeling like a badass, and you can get away with using the 1h meat cleaver in this game if you try hard enough.

That's what I did in the end. I chose the long sword, because it looks awesome. I'm appreciating stabbing more, so I may buy a regular great sword next.

I went with a completely regular native Greatsword. Reason? Its got good stab, its faster than other greatswords(exept sword of war which has same speed) and looks good. If you not much of a lolstabber go with Claymore if you wanna be more of a support player and also be able to take down cav like a boss go with Flamberge.

The bastardo swords and longsword is for a player whose all out for spamming. Normally I smash most of these sword users cause they normally arent paying attention to blocking anymore and spend most of their combat trickhitting infront of their opponents face rather than acctually hitting something. But those are good weapons none the less.

I like Two Handed Sword and Heavy Bastard Sword most. They are probably a bit more difficult for new players then those greatswords.

But you need to be pretty good at blocking, its not really a spam-weapon

I absolutely love the longsword, personally.
