I think it has better speed,good look,good stab but less swing.

Seriously, player who can't stab with a greatsword is actually a noob (fresh of the boat).

So all the stab spammers are pro's? Ppl who stay behind(with their high agi builds) and just move in - stab and move out with a kill? I do not agree with this!

On topic: SoW is awesome if you want to swing more then stab all the high-end greatswords are homoerotic so don't use 'em!!  jk, its up to you really, just test 'em out.

Miaodao has a rather nice feeling to it and is overall a rather fast and hard hitting slashing sword.

On topic, if you don't like stabbing you could always just use one of the swords that lacks a stab. Miaodao, War Cleaver, or Nodachi.

(really nice length for a curved weapon, often get kills due to underestimation of its length. 43 cut is great (46 at MW!), the only con is no stab but im sure you can live with that ^^)

Honestly I wouldn't say lacking a stab is a con. Stabs are very situational attacks, that require very specific footwork. Accidentally throwing out a stab when you didn't mean to can very easily get you killed. The weapons that don't have stabs don't have to worry about this, and therefore don't have to focus quite as much on choosing their attack direction.

Playing with my alt character, I bought both Longsword and Bastard Sword.
Im curious why nobody uses/likes simple bastard sword? Its very fast with 99 speed, length of 101 makes it longer than most 1h swords, and with good agility you can evade heavy tincans

Thrust 21 (super fast, kills the shielders!!)

Speed 99 allows to stay close vs heavily armored 2h enemies (swinging), stabbing give an advantage over shielders and while being able to hit faster, blocking is also very easy

The Longsword in comparison is almost the same

...anyway, call it a subjective opinion, somehow the speed difference of 1 matters a lot in close combat or being surrounded by odds. Or not?

Some expert opinions about this comparison? If you think Bastard Sword is shit, what could be a good alternative?

Longsword is a bit longer, it's swing damage is 1 higher and thrust 2 higher. However, bastard sword's upkeep is way lower, so it's good for people who wants to earn some money.
