I think cRPG has grown out of them. I really haven't played long, but it seems the unstable, constantly being changed mod that it used to be is no more.

I voted no, but Im divided about this issue. In one hand I dont want to lose my stuff, on the other, this would help ballance things out amongst new and old players.

It wouldn't help at all to balance between new and old players, it would simply change where the line between new and old is drawn. Once a wipe is made, anyone who is playing during it is "old". Anyone who joins afterwards becomes "new". It would decrease the amount of new players, but that number would eventually build up to what it used to be.
