Why does everyone think that the UK is a single country?

If you split GB into single countries, make that for germany and all other too (germany has 16 parts btw). Then I might stand a chance too 

Well England is split into over 50 counties in 9 Regions, but it is still 1 country.... like Germany.

State, country, county whatever - Im not native english, so I might use the wrong terms. UK is a single state, as is germany. England is a part (country, whatever) of that, as is Bavaria or Saxony in germany. So what?

No, Bavaria is a state or region of Germany. Germany is a country. The United Kingdom/Great Britain is made up of four countries (England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland).

Think of the United Kingdom as a little mini Empire, or as it says on the tin... A Kingdom.

Like it or not mate. It is FACT not interpretation that England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are their own Countries and it is FACT that Germany is ONE country.
