Its not about tracking, its about gliding. My garbage mousepad always gets really unsmooth due to dried handsweat or something. I have to wipe the pad and my mouse gliders every now and then to keep it gliding smoothly. I am wondering if getting a nice mousepad will stop this from happening.

Yes it will. I had issues and then went and bought a semi-expensive slick mousepad. It is like paying an extra $50 for your mouse.

You do need to invest at least in a mid-range mouse though.

FYI - WD40, while seemingly a good idea to make a really slick surface, actually gives some additional friction with buildup. Mineral oil on a wood desktop (for those who don't use a mousepad) also created more friction than dry wood.

Go for the mouse first, it up to you to decide what kind of mouse you would like to use, check a bunch of reviews that's how i made ma choice and i don't regret it.

I use this as ma mousepad but it's required to have a 4g dual sensor to get the most out of it.

Lol I use a Dollar Store mouse and a ten year old mouse pad I found in my attic. I know having something better could help a little, but I don't think it makes too much of a difference. The only thing that makes me want to upgrade is the fact that every once in a while my mouse won't recognize me pressing a button on it.

I got a decent mouse and an excellent table, mats are gay.
1H stab is the fastest, strongest and longest 1H animation. There's no reason NOT to use it in all instances. I don't know if it's OP, but it's boring. 1H used to be fun because you had a fast (left), long (right) and the most devastating attack (stab) and had to choose the best attack for each occasion.

For this game, mat is way more important. DPI and crap like that doesnt matter in this game. Indeed even a ball mouse would work. Anyway, any 6 euros mouse these days is better than a top of the line laser mouse 12 years ago so... Mat all the way. You need very very smooth mouse movement for confortable blocking. A single DPI to each side of the mouse will work aslong the mouse movement is smooth... maybe archers need better mouse but....i dont consider those people :). Btw, when i say "mat" i dont even mean a mouse mat. Just a nice sliding surface, you name it.

I use an air gyration mouse because it is extremely amusing to play games with it.
I'm not normal and I don't pretend so, my approach is pretty much a bomb crescendo.
Death is a fun way to pass the time though, several little bullets moving in staccato.

I use a logitech G5 mouse that has lasted the better part of 5 years for me, never a problem. If you are looking for a mouse, go wired but look for a braided cable, otherwise the cables always wear out (at least on my desk)

I use a small 8" x 11" razor mouse mat. It is very smooth and flows much better. Never really used mats before, but after this I will always use a mouse mat. The mat helps tremendously, most noticeable when you are playing FPS.

A good mouse and a good pad are very helpful. I bought my mouse for something like $40, and given its still as good as the first day after 5 years, if this one ever breaks I will be buying a new one(same kind derp). Way better than the $10 mouse you buy that breaks or malfunctions a few months after use!

I just use a regular 5 dollar or w/e mouse with a regular mousepad. The biggest reason I would want to upgrade is to have more buttons on the mouse to use outfit view, talk in vent/ts, etc.

me neither...go for the mouse and don't bother spending around 40-70 $ for it, it will pay of ;)

I use a Alienware TactX mouse that i bought together with my pc. I do like the design, it has enough buttons for several additional functions and the handling is good :) (and you can change the color of the LED's :D )

Razer Death Adder and no pad, works perfectly for me.

Razer DeathAdder with a SteelSeries QcK mini mousepad. The mouse is incredibly ergonomic and the pad is so smooth, although padless can also be fine depending on how good your table/surface is.
