Mouse or Mousemat?

so whats more important to you?

I had a cheap mouse but a decent mousemat (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Allsop-Redmond-06927-Mouse-Pad/dp/B002JPJU78/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1342726547&sr=8-8)(didnt cost that much tho :D) That one. And it was great untill i wore the middle out. its like a shiney slick material now its just hard :( So i bought a new mousemat. its small maybe half the size and vastly cheaper at around £5. its also made of a totally different material (the usual rubbery shit) Im wondering how it will effect me :D

so do you guys prefer a good mat/pad or a good mouse?
i make terrible warband videos! https://youtu.be/jUdVGIOuULk

I have a crap mouse that's twice as small as a normal mouse and a crap pad, and it doesn't affect me too much. Just get whatever mouse you feel is comfortable.

I'd rather have a good mouse. What would you do with a shitty mouse on a state of the art mouse pad?

My mouse tracks perfectly pin-point on any surface, including glass, so...invest in a decent mouse and you don't need to think about a mat anymore.

Both need to be good to deliver good performance. Seek a balance between the two.

Its not about tracking, its about gliding. My garbage mousepad always gets really unsmooth due to dried handsweat or something. I have to wipe the pad and my mouse gliders every now and then to keep it gliding smoothly. I am wondering if getting a nice mousepad will stop this from happening.

I've got a G400 (very similar to mx518). Logitech is a pretty safe bet since they have good warranty policies, as long as its in warranty they will replace faulty stuff without hassle. I find the more expensive mice with over 9000dpi , weights, laser sensors aren't really worth it.

Its worth having a decent mouse mat though, I got qck heavy. Plus if you want to be super keen then you need a mouse bungee to stop the cord snagging on stuff

i have a4tech x7 mouse, it's quite good on fps games. my mousepad is a gift from national geographic mag, and imo, it's not that important to have a pro mat..

Mouse more important imo. I'd see it like this.

Mouse > Headset > Mousemat > Keyboard when trying to prioritize what to put most cash on for gayming.

Fucking gross.

It reminds me of the bacteria colonies that grow on my mouse too, always have to peel them off with paper or they get stuck inside the mouse buttons and make it impossible to click.
