What 2hs can be used with shield ?

Why is it that the spiked mace can't be used with a shield btw? length 70, but you can't wield it in one hand? It can be used with shield, didn't realise.

yeah, can be a nice moment if you hold the shield all the time until it breaks then block next strike and kill the suprised attacker.

As a long time Heavy Bastard Swordsman I can say that all the weapons above can be used with a shield, however why you would ever use one as a 1h is beyond me. The speed/power nerf (30% or so I believe) when using the weapon in 1 hand is such that it makes it slower (and more often than not weaker) than any pure 1 handed weapon. If I see someone using a 1/2h weapon with a shield I simply bust out my Masterwork HBS and spam them into the ground.

The benifit of the halfhanded weapons is there speed and low wieght, making them perfect in a tight space (a la siege, or when surronded by teammates to avoid TK/TH) and to feint spam shielders into giving you an opening. It is also helpfull to have a shield out to protect against arrows and then sling it onto your back and spam away.

To conclude 1/2 weapons are great when used in 2h mode but should never be used instead of a dedicated 1h weapon, if this is your intention.

Little known fact: The Langes Messer is a 1-hander sword that has a secondary mode that allows it to be used in 2-handed mode.

This means it is a dedicated 1h sword with NO penalty with a shield, unlike the bastard 1/2 hand swords which are penalized around 30% in speed and damage if used with a shield. To use the 1-handed Langes Messer in 2-handed mode, simply press X and you will use it with 2-handed animations and 2-handed weapon proficiency points.

So, unlike the half-hand swords, which can be used either way, but are penalized with a shield, the Langes Messer is a one-handed sword that can be used as a (short) two-handed weapon when you press X.

Quick question, does the Messer incure any bonus when used in 2h mode, or is it simply the same weapon but with the 2h animations? If so what is the benifit/situation of switching it from 1h-2h mode? Or is it simply an f-ing cool 1h with and epic secondary mode?

2h mode is a bit more powerfull, in other words it inflicts more damage and swings faster.
