Hoplite/thrower = awesome build, terror of cav everywhere. The polearm proficiency also gives you great synergy in emergencies when you have to use your throwing weapon as melee.

Well, when i use my pike, i like to have a fighting axe, got lots of versitility, 1h or 2h with it and good against damned shields

With my hoplite build, I usually bring a short spear for back up. Short spears only require one slot and they are quick enough to put those katana spammers in their place. Unfortunately hoplites can no longer deal any damage at close range (the good old turn stab was killed by the turn speed limit), so you might be better off using a military fork and shield as side weapons while using a nice pole-arm for a change.

A mace or an axe for me. Hoplite and 2h spear are already long enough.


It depends on who you aren't comfortable fighting against with your spear. I don't think hoplite/spears are very great against shielders, so you might want an axe, for instance.

I'm with San on the axe thing. Great against shields, which hoplites really suck against, it seems.

A pick is good too, for close range damage dealing.

You could just do as Mlekce does and not put WPF into any secondary 1h weapon. Polespam all the way.

Fighting axe is a good choice. Langes messer is another very good option. Having a build that utilizes both polearms and 2H makes you very versatile.
