Board shields are a little too slow in exchange for minor increased durability and protection, at least for me.  Elite Cav is too weak, Plate Covered too small, Steel too high a skill requirement (otherwise excellent durability vs speed).  Roundshields are a nice balance.  Kites are about equal, I just prefer the look of roundshields.
