honor, dishonor

Been thinking it would be really cool to have this. What stats, abilities, bonuses etc it could affect on your character I don't know exactly (others can brainstorm ideas). Anyway basic stuff like higher level NOT killing the weak....NOT using ranged on the last guy (finishing with a fistfight or duel). Archers NOT running but standing and fighting when approached and they are the last one left etc etc. You could also play dishonorably and get certain abilities exclusive to that way of play too.

not spawnraping.  nice.

edit
I`d say the honor should be linked to the voice commands and maybe the shading of your characters equipment.

high honor-clear voices, bright equipment.
no honor-darth vader shit going on and dark equipment.

hmm, i would create a whole other thing for this:  HONOR

if you do honorable things, you gain HONOR, if you dishonorable things, you lose HONOR.
HONOR would have no real effect on your character, but could be displayed on the website...maybe something others could see somehow?
Maybe you get a little medal for reaching different +HONOR levels?  and different markings for -HONOR levels

Just have to find mechanics in the game that can track this....

Gaining HONOR:

- last on flag
- killing higher level / loadout cost opponents
- dying around the flag/other areas of strategic importance (doors, gatehouse winch, *attackers dying on ladders*)

Losing HONOR:

- killing away from flag/other areas of strategic importance
- killing lower level / loadout cost opponents

** Not sure if this is a good or even possible idea, but this is how I'd do it if I had to

So i'm dishonorable if as an archer i kill the naked crossbowman hiding in a bush ?
Or if i kill the level 20 "peasant" with 27 STR preparing to gank my teammates ?

Dishonor has nothing to do with killing lower levels than yourself. They're fighting in eu1 (not in eu5New) so they're putting their life on the line. And i'll cut that line.

Nonetheless, suiciding should give some dishonor.

Dishonor:
Hitting enemies on the ground
Team hitting
Shooting an enemy in the back

Honor:
Killing a rider rather than killing his horse
Allowing the last man alive to duelz
Dying on the flag(s)

I think honour should be given by other people like reporting a leecher. And of course it's tracked who gives whom honour, and clan members are forbidden to give each other honour in any case, just to keep things clear and easy.

So running past a peasant, dismounting when fighting the last infantry, letting a pure archer look on the field for a melee weapon, all those things should grant honour, especially if a lot people are spectating at the end of the round.

I wouldn't implement a dishonor vote, because this would only lead to griefing or trolling.

Different, objectively traceable things like teamhitting, teamkilling and so on lower the honour to a minimum of 0.

I don't know what to do with the honour. Perhaps you can buy titles or simply gold or XP for it.

the thing I suspect gay about this, would be having people act honorable just to get honor points (or dishonor points)  that way things might become a bit fake..

Perhaps, but not for the one who enjoyed the honour of the player.

And by the way, in real life, honour can have a lot of different motivations.

Interesting.
This game isn't about being skillful as much as its about saying things in general chat that enrage people who then go to murder you but in their rage they make dumb mistakes which gets them killed.

Well as far as i can judge thiswould be a big pain in the ass to implement in the game...
But in battle... if smeone is standing in front of you and you are heavy armor high level...you should try to run from any wannabe ninja because you lose honour for killing him? xD Same with archers, leaving them alive because you would lose honour? :P
And how do you expect the server to understand you give someone a duel? :P

I agree....if they tried to implement any and all possible conditions of honor or dishonor. I can imagine the ridiculous coding (and probably server lag) to accomplish that....heh. That is way too much to ask. So, just implementing the most simple, basic and obvious conditions of honor and dishonor could still be very interesting ( I know what may seem simple may not be so simple to code though). It doesn't have to be complex. Even just a few different things being considered would be good. In fact most actions probably should not count as either and would remain the same as now.

Personally I don't like the idea of honor in battle, and I feel it has no place in battle (in a video game or IRL).  It should be cut throat, you should be doing everything you can to cut down as many of the enemy as possible.

If you want to fight "honorably" like the Red Coats in the American Revolution, while the militia ambush you from the forest, be my guest.  But expect to die a brutal horrible death.  But you can hold onto your honor in your grave, so you got that going for ya.

And to you euro's, it's spelled HONOR.  Stop killing more trees than need be with your extra vowels.

yeah it's a game...what's your point?  There's a duel server if you want honor.  With multi's on the line, people should be doing whatever they can (within the rules of the game) to win the round.
