Only proper, medieval-style banners are allowed in the mod. If you keep using banners that clash with the setting, you will lose your banner slot.

Hmmm...I don't think the banner adjustments are for realism.  It's to cultivate an type of atmosphere...a spirit of the game.  A certain "Terroir" or "Genius Loci." 

It's hard to pinpoint exactly, but I think most people don't want to play medieval clown circus combat simulator....so it makes sense to me.

Besides, jokes are funnier when done with a serious face. :)
