True assassin knows that the best tactic is to get close to his target, unaware, wait for him to be busy, and better wounded, before realeasing the lethal strike. And how to better deceive your target's attention than to join his team...?

Yes. Yes, poor soul, you might get polled for TK... The  dark art of asssassination is unfortunately not very popular. However, as a mindful professional you will have corrupted some fellow players beforehands (or better: joined a clan): they will confirm to the admin that this was a mere accident or a justified act of self-defense and encourage the dubious crowd to press 2.

Unbeatable.

people usually wait till their target is already fighting for their life and then engage them

if you can remain unseen (by target) until the backstab it makes it easier too

team up with a cav on ts/vent for lols too

One of the hardest, but most rewarding assassin tactics (only used it successfully on two players):

1. Find a target
2. Observe the person for a few rounds
3. Learn his pattern & equipment (how he/she looks like, and often used camp spots)
4. Engage in a conversation with the victim prior to the assassination

This is the hard part, and requires great timing. While flanking your victim, ask him/her one question that he/she cannot help but answer, the question has to require a somewhat lengthy response.

5. Watch as your victim stops moving, and starts typing....
6. Move in for the kill
7. laugh at victim in chat :D

That is a good one, I was chatting to Superbeast the other night whilst in a battle, and after calling him a Bad Santa, he felt the need to respond, and I lanced him, but I didnt know he was typing lol.

And I would say Phzah is very succeptible to this tactics.
I mean, what have you got to lose? You know, you come from nothing, you're going back to nothing, what have you lost? Nothing!

qft

Trying to do tactics + having to admin = lots and lots of typing. Death by typing ftl.  :|

Then again, often my team really doesn't need me at all and i just get to have a short break. It's all good. Whatever happens, please keep killing me. No need for any honor on the battlefield.  :P

I need to practice my timing my typing better.

This is my favorite style of playing, mostly due to the fact that I am a terrible shot (in an FPS) or swordsman in this game and have to rely on surprise for half a chance. I've only played a short time, but have had some success finding an open path, getting behind folks (especially archers) and capping a flag by my self or with the few who catch up.

However, a secret assassin can't talk about his tactics, right? I'll say that I love the spiked mace. I'm still figuring out the game and on gen 3 haven't heir loomed much yet, but using unsuspecting things really helps.

It really helps to divide attention both for what you're after and what's after you. I've fallen for the ignoring-you-attacking-your-teammate-but-not-really feint too often.

Only on my 3rd gen, but am trying archery to throw a little change in. I've had a few successes of landing a few shots, being ignored, then slashing from behind with my cleaver.

High athletics, light armor, and quick weapons really help. Same with clever laddering.
