Does blunt damage negate armor?

I'm using the warhammer and it just seems to hit harder than a weapon of comparable damage that has cutting damage. Does it simply counter armor to a point? It doesn't seem to be as powerful against very heavy armor as it is against mail and leather.

blunt ignores 50% of total armor and blunt damage is the 2nd or maybe 1st best damage type there is.

so if a weapon has 40cut

and a mace has 34-37 blunt damage

the mace is going to win in the total damage.

Ahhh now it makes sense why it appeared to have diminishing returns the heavier the armor got.

Thanks!

Pierce fully negates armor values?

I believe pierce is a little bit higher, like 65%. Not sure what you mean with diminishing returns, shouldn't it be the opposite, since the more they wear the more that pierce and blunt ignore?

Sounds logical. But i think we need to know the exact % of armor ignored before we can start being dead serious but yeahh.

Just to make things clearer Cut is the Worst damage type of the three,  pierce and blunt avoid alot of glancing blows and bumping off armor for the price of weapon length.

hope i helped.

Well, against a target wearing light to medium armor, the amount they already absorb is lower, so the damage bonus from ignoring armor appears more significant.

Blunt damage is better than pierce.

35 blunt is greater than 35 pierce. However, the difference is very, very small. Usually the fact that most pierce weapons out damage blunt weapons by a good 4-5 pts makes the pierce weapon "stronger."

wrong, infact completely the opposite.  the less armor someone is wearing the more you want a high damage weapon, which are typically CUT.

No, what I meant was a I didn't know that blunt weapons got a "bonus" vs armor. That's why I came to ask here. I thought they just got a chance to knockdown.

It was more noticeable to me when I was fighting guys in medium armor, because it still took me forever to kill a tincan...so I didn't know if what I was seeing was just my imagination or in fact blunt weapons got some kind of bonus.

I generally prefer cut weapons, because I try to let the two handed guys take out the tincans, but on medium armor guys was where I first noticed that negation of armor that blunt have.

The dilemma here is, even if you do pierce damage or blunt damage you'll be dealing more damage to lightly armored targets no matter what :D

Ronin no, just no

Higher damage weapons like cut tier so much better with powerstrike, therefore they rape lightly armored opponents more than blunt and pierce because of their high damage and because your enemy has light armor.

Its pretty simple people
Low Damage Output = Blunt > Heavy Armor
High Damage Output = Cut > Light Armor

For a given damage value x, blunt and pierce will always do more damage than cut, regardless of armor. Armor cannot mitigate damage from blunt or pierce sources as well as it can mitigate damage from cut sources. Thus, a 30b or 30p damage weapon will always deal more damage than a 30c weapon, whether the opponent has 30 armor or 60 armor. 60 armor just reduces the damage of a 30c weapon more than it reduces the damage of a 30b or 30p weapon, compared to 30 armor.

However, sources with cut damage typically have higher damage values. A more realistic scenario is comparing a 36c weapon with a 30p or 30b weapon. The 36c weapon will end up doing more damage against lower armor values, while the 30p or 30b weapon will end up doing more damage against higher armor values.

For weapons that have the equivalent damage value, cut weapons typically have additional bonuses which promote their use: faster speed, longer reach, and/or special properties such as bonus against shields.

You get me all wrong. Let me examplify:
There are two targets.
-One has 20 armor
-Second has 40 armor

No matter what weapon type you use, you'll be dealing more damage to the first target :P
