Best Sword+Board Build?

I have seen a lot of debate when it comes to the best sword and board builds.

The general consensus seems to state that you want as much strength and power strike as possible.

I also see a lot of skilled players with high agility and high athletics doing quite well.

What do you all think? I am particularly interested in the opinions of our EU friends on this matter.

I'd say you want 15 agility (for 5 shield and 5 athletics).  So 21 or 24 STR depending on how much IF and WM you want. 

This looks like a good build:

Level:           30

Strength:        24
Agility:         15

Skill to attr:    8

Ironflesh:        3
Power Strike:     8
Shield:           5
Athletics:        5
Weapon Master:    2

One Handed:     123

65 HP

BM's build looks nice for having max WM and Max IF, might be worth going up to 24 to have 8 PS, but it's up to preference.  I only ever have 4 shield and 5 or 6 PS (I was going to not retire so this build I only had 5 PS) and I still do really well with sword+board.  But then again, I use the broad 1h battle axe, so it has 35 cut (hits like a damn train).  I'd recommend if you have 7 or 8 PS to use either the LAS or KAS, or else an elite scimitar (I like having the ability to stab).

Just FYI, going 24 str and 3 IF gives you 65hp, going 21 str and 7 IF gives you 70 HP, so IMO,  I think you'd be better off going 24/15.  However, 2 WM gives you 123 1h skill, 5 WM gives you like 146...so just things to consider.

21/15. 120 1h + what ever is left in polearm.

7 IF OR 5 riding and 2 IF. Depends on your lusts.

Or do 21/15 with throwing.

Throwing or Spear for your cav counter, up to you.

If you really don't want to ride, I still recommend taking 6 athletics in your build.  5 can get by ok, but 6 is better.

Depends on what you want to do.  24/15 is a solid build if you want to actually kill armored targets in less than 15 hits.

15/24 however is a very fun SUPPORT build (you will live forever but never kill anything)

Actually yeah...21/15 is the way to go.  Fuck IF (or maxed IF and get some throwing or riding).

I think if you're dead set on only using 1h+shield, then go with my 24/15 build

24/15 or 21/15 good players use that builds. i tried 18/18 and 15/21 that were crap builds you cant kill anything. Usless.

fact is as a shielder you NEED IF. have you tried playing in the front line? you get team hit by piker heroes or two handers who dont know what they are doing. 1 hit in the back and a hit in the front is enough to ruin your round without IF.

Atm im trying this build out as 1h cav

its pretty fun so far its not too gimped on foot as 6 shield makes up for low ath as i can move around block block block and strike
