I'm not sure which genius did it but lat Bec nerf from 37 to 34 pierce was totally uncalled for. You see, Bec is utter shit of an expensive weapon.
Well, once it had CT, then it was removed, stats nerfed from 42 pierce (I think) to 39 or so. Then further nerf to 37 or 36 pierce where Bec became just good weapon. Now it has 34 peierce damage on swings and 26 pierce on thrust and it's not a bad weapon but it's one of the worse choices, especiialy for its price.
Bec de corbin never had crushthrough, not in cRPG. Neither was its damage ever that high. When it was originally changed into a functional weapon, it had 38 blunt. This changed to 38 pierce at some point. Then it started getting numerical damage nerfs.
About Bec's price:
Long Bardiche, weapon I've "discovered" as OP almost a year ago, costs less than 7k gold. Long Bardiche wasn't nerfed probably because Leshma said it's OP and devs and everyone else are on autopilot whenever Leshma says something (look it's that idiot again - ignore or do completely oposite).
Only thing it had was high damage, now it has nothing.
I will agree with you that the bec's current price doesn't fit its efficacy considering how much it got nerfed, but it's still a high damage weapon, comparatively. Only one melee weapon in the game has higher pierce damage: the morningstar. Comparing the two, you begin to notice why the bec's price is so awful.
Anyway I wouldn't be so hard on people disregarding what you say, because a lot of what you said was just plain wrong. It's difficult for people to take you seriously when you can't get your facts straight. I do agree with you that something should be done in the bec's favor, though. Price decrease would be best, because weapon balance is a fine line that's so easy to cross.
If they change damage to blunt they'll have to add knockdown too and unbalanced tag will come with it. It will became different looking and shorter Long Hafted/Spiked Mace.
It used to have knockdown without unbalanced, so there was a reason why it was changed (technically, its alternate mode still has knockdown without being unbalanced). There's also a reason why unbalanced was added to the long hafted spiked and knobbed maces. If it was changed to blunt/unbalanced, it'd be a shorter,
more damaging version of those, it wouldn't just look different. Its use would be more divergent in practice than the knobbed and spiked mace are from one another, in fact.
