Shield Looming!

So I'm deciding which shield to loom. I remember reading a thread awhile back that talked about how some shields gain much greater benefits from looming then others. Anybody have any recommendations? I want something fast, so no huscarl or anything, but something that when loomed, can take a bunch of hits. I'll have 4 or 5 shield skill. Thinking maybe elite cav or knightly heater? But I heard the brown lion heater has amazing stats when loomed? :o
I'm rock, nerf paper, scissors is fine. Welcome to c-RPG.

I was thinking about it. Will it take a bunch of hits when triple loomed? That's my main concern. Because my elite cav breaks too much for my liking. And is the difference from 96 speed to 100 speed in shield that noticeable?

IMO Heavy Round Shield is the best. Good everything, amazing coverage (almost rivaling the Huscarl's Round) and one slot, too.

I have a MW kite shield, I love it.  Low upkeep and fast.
I'm not sure how it stands up to the brown lion shield though.

You should get more agility so you can have more shield skill.

21/15 atm, but all I use is this +3 Steel Pick, so I think I can lose a little PS, so might go 18/18 next gen and get 6 shield.

Do you know the exact increase though? Or does it vary from shield to shield? Cuz I know with like 2h for example they all gain same damage and speed when loomed, like same amount, except for one or two I believe.

I'll make a stf to see if that does enough dmg with the pick. Probably will but I do enjoy one shotting people and that's been happening quite a bit with the 7 PS. :D

Loom a Knightly Heater if you like it or not.
You can trade it for any other shield + money.

this... width is very important for a footman, prevents people turning around your shield for side hits and gives you much better angles when fighting outnumbered, and better coverage against sharpshooting archers.

+3 stats are:
+53HP (15.2% increase)
+4 armour (26.7% increase)
+3 speed

Unless you are cav also, the infantry only shields (round or board) have way better stats than smaller shields.

Did some calculations in excel for select shields, might be helpful.
This is the percentage of increase a shield gets when fully loomed, based on the info here.
It does NOT take account size of the shield, how good a shield is for certain things, re-trade value or any of those.

So, looking at these number will not tell you the BEST shield to loom.  But if you stuck between 2 different ones you like it may help.

Looking at these number averages alone, the shields that benefit the MOST from looming (out of those selected) are the Board shield, brown lion, then kite shield (in order).  But it makes sense that lower tier shields will have a higher % of increase because they start off with lower stats.  So take that all in to consideration.  You may find a fully loomed heater shield is not as good as a an unloomed heavy heater shield, for example.
