I think they are still doing that, but also over twitter and FB (and PC gamer)

Basically you sign up for beta and you get a chance of getting one when its released, or you spam their twitter and facebook and pray you get lucky.

Planetside 2 did real good at e3 with awards.  Alongside its best in show from game informer it also won three awards from gamespy for Best Shooter, Best Free to Play, and Best PC Exclusive also beating Elder Scrolls on-line and DC Universe on-line to win IGN's best MMO

Not saying it is or isn't going to be good but my point was that these gaming sites, magazines, etc. are doling out awards to games that weren't even released yet?

Well the awards ar intended for an expo. Its best MMO o E3, and best in show of E3.  They are awards for games that are being previewed at these shows.

wasn't so sure how good this game would be but watching all that e3 footage totally sold me. seriously screw elder scrolls online aswell.

I have a huge crush on that developer "maggie" aswell, totally gona make me go vanu since I like purple too.

I want to play this game already...

just the small fact that you can play a shooter with your clan mates and always be on the same team sets the game apart really, think about it other shooters you can only play as a clan in private matches.

my primary concern is simply: friendly fire + free to play. not a good combo, I think friendly fire is a must but its one of those things like with salem where i'm thinking i'd rather the game was buy to play for gameplays sake.

TB raised some concern over FF and the ability to 'stat pad' in one of his earlier previews of the game.  Matt Higby, one of the lead developers, said that there would be a very active moderator / admin team who would be actively on the look out for people abusing such functions and taking appropriate action.

I'm not too fond of F2P for any game really, but this is still Planetside 2 and it's going to rock.

So how does shooting and killing in Planetside work? How many bullets does it take to kill etc?
