Spook was buried today. A couple friends and I drove downstate to pay our respects. It was extremely windy out and the flowers kept blowing off the top of the casket. The ceremony was nice but unremarkable beyond the fierce weather which seemed fitting -- knowing who he was.
This was him.
I doubt he'd care much if I posted it now.

loginHe would often call himself the Freddie Mercury of CRPG, and maybe he was. His personality was larger than he could handle at times, and he loved to indulge in everything from drugs to the ziggy stardust like E-persona he created while playing. He wasn't naturally mean spirited, but he definitely did not have a beta type personality.

I like to think he's in a better place, but Spook was adamantly agnostic. He never used to trifle over worrying about "what-if" and biblical or otherworldly moralities. He was more concerned about doing things he enjoyed and having as much fun as he could while doing it. I envy him for that -- now that it's over; even if it is partly what led him out early.
He could be a very divisive person, and reveled in it, but I think the one thing he tried to do more than almost anything is to get people to play together as a team instead of divided. Personally, as someone who knew him in real life, I think that is how he would want to be remembered foremost.
