Im using the longbow for like 6 gens now and loomed to +3
The moment I stuffed a loom point into it was when I regretted it at first. I played around with some builds and found a build with decent accuracy: 18/21 6 PD 7 WM 164 something wpf. And this is the problem, IMO 18/21 is the ONLY viable longbow build there is.
6 PD is the minimum requirement so 18 str is a must have. Also it seems there is kind of a magic mark that lies around 160 wpf that gives a noticable accuracy boost, which pretty much means 7 WM is the minimum to get this bow to work properly leaving you with a 18/21 build. I guess it has something do with the drawing animation getting fast enough to surpass the reticule spread timer. You still have about 0 seconds optimal reticul hold time but at least with 7 WM you can actually release before the retiule starts to enlarge. Still not exactly a sniper.
Being "forced" to go 6 PD at lvl 30 with a damage focused bow is bullshit of course. +1 second optimum reticul hold time to all bows and archery would feel a lot less bugged. In the end I think everyone would be better off with a rusbow.
