The bec cannot be used on horseback at all, while the long hafted blade can horse slash.

Actually, the Bec de Corbin can be used on horseback, and it can horse slash. You can test this in Single Player.

As for the original question, I like using the Pike both at close range and at its maximum reach. It's also extremely effective for supporting teammates.

I have been getting kills on horse back with a long hafted blade...........very hard though

Ah, I see that is reflected in the store too.  Is that new with the patch, or a longstanding error in that list of weapon abilities?

It was new with the upkeep patch. As of .210, however, I believe the Bec de Corbin can only be used to stab on horseback.
