I know a lot of suggestions are crazy and probably not worth the trouble, but I think this one is crazy enough and just about implementable to be worth it. But what do I know?  :mrgreen:

Commander mode In NW, is fucking epic!!!!. I think it can work in cRPG as well. trouble is dont think cRPG has any devs to work on this.

Erm....the word Fire in medieval context is warning about....fire! It would never, ever, not even once, NEVER, be used to command archers to loose an arrow. Also this shit you see in movies where archers stand in a line and hold their bows drawn: NEVER happend. The clump of archers are given the command to loose arrows, and they ping them off at will, there are no volleys in archery, it doesnt work that way.

Well that's how it happens in mount and blade... you tell them when they can fire or when they can't and they fire whenever they can. But that's missing the point of this thread!  :rolleyes:

Take it you not played commander in NW, you can put them in a loose skirmish formation and tell them to fire at will.

I think the main problem with this is when the user input comes in... you can't change the troops file of cRPG every time on person changes their troops... can't imagine how retarded that would be lol.

Could you
use one "troop" as a blank template to reference in the cRPG module file
everyone uses that "troop" behind the scenes
WSE modify the troops assigned to each person referencing their account on entry to the server
?

There could be predefined troops: archers, throwers, HAs, HXs, inv, cav which are kinda balanced against each other in gear and quantity. So they don't have the same gear as you, but you still have yours as the commander of the troop. If they use the same gear as the commander it will be heavily unbalanced. Imaging 10 plated chargers with full plate rolling through the server  :shock:

I was more thinking an extra set of stats attached to the account which detail the gear and stats of the troops, so you set things up on the website first, then join a server.

Regarding balance, I was thinking you could still get top tier gear but maybe it would be balanced by a points cap, and each man's gear costs whatever points, so player A could field loads of peasant gear footsoldiers while player B on the same server (and thus the same troop limit per person) fields some plated knights, but can field less because their troops cost more to equip per man.

But predefined troops sounds way more implementable, but less personal!

Yeah I say its just a gold amount.

A troop is 1000 gold and his equipment is what it is in the shop and you get 400k with a maximum retinue of say 20 bots.

But I would hope that this mode wouldn't have ATHW... I would love some more modes that are devoid of its pickled taint.
