Today I am here to talk about an issue many of you are all too familiar with. The Repair Bill system. Now, I don't hate the system as a whole, I believe taxing people determined by their gear is a great way to balance the game... if it were done right. However, I have reason to believe the system is sentient and actually has some kind of grudge against me. Let me explain.

First of all, it seems only my two most expensive items ever repair; my shield and weapon. Very rarely ever anything else. On top of that, it does it at the most inconvenient times. No really, the repair system never misses a chance to strike me hard. After a long victorious match it will bill me to repair my two most expensive items again, two times in a row, eliminating all total profits earned from the match just so it can piss me off. Either chadz is controlling the repair system at all times trolling us, it's sentient, or the thing is rigged and he's not telling us how it REALLY works.

It won't leave me alone, and due to this, I am actually losing money even though I only have a 900 gold upkeep. I just want to have fun damn it. The repair bill system has ruined my gaming experience for way too long and I am almost ready to quit, as it was the reason I had quit before... and it seems to have not been fixed at all since then! It wastes countless hours of my time and I'm sick of it. And don't say "You're just a bad player", because I am actually one of the most skilled shielders out there, but I am still losing money!

I heard that it's a 5% chance something is broken every round, but that can't be possible with the results I am seeing. It has to be more like 15% per tick, and that's just not fair (unless you're a bankroller, or a crafter on Strategus, AKA hardly anybody). This system needs to be re-worked again. Same goes for the auto-balancer, it is switching over people all the time every round and greatly lowering the chances of obtaining a multiplier.

Your total repair is 900 gold and you loose money? My cheapest oufit and weapons costs 1.1 k and even on x1, I gain money in the long run.
You must be pretty lucky then. But just you wait, it's waiting for the perfect time to strike...I know it.

Not really. I´m playing with this equip for a long time now, made around 100 k in the last two weeks without playing much.
Well I guess you should feel good about yourself, because there's tons of other players like me with a lower upkeep suffering from profit loss due to this imbalanced system. See, this is the thing, some people are rewarded by it... others are destroyed by it. A system meant to "balance" things shouldn't merely work around luck, as that defeats the whole point. It should be determined by player-skill, as in you get gold for each kill or kill assist. The current system is too luck-based and is the cause of much leeching.

Weapon proficiency increases chance of repair for that item. So it makes sense your getting repairs for the weapons that your class uses.

Weapon proficiency increases chance of repair for that item. So it makes sense your getting repairs for the weapons that your class uses.
Other way around, the higher your wpf for the weapon, the less of a chance it will repair, your weapon will almost always repair if you lose the round too. I'm using an arbalest and yet im gaining money.

I'm glad to see that a majority of voters (currently) believe the repair bills should be nerfed. I hope a developer sees these results and has a second thought about the system.

I have bought a cheaper weapon, keeping my much more expensive shield, and now my shield is the most frequent item ever repaired. And as usual, my cheap armor is almost never repaired. This is no coincidence. I theorize that based on these results, the maintenance system has a much higher chance of repairing your more expensive items. It is a hidden formula to counter people attempting to beat the maintenance system (ex. someone naked going around with a flamberge). But if your equipment prices are balanced, they will all repair at the same rate.

So yeah, it's pretty much rigged like I said, and that's unacceptable. But it's still a theory (though a very educated one).

Hmm does shieldskill affect shield repairs? Or riding skill to horse repairs? Well not if I remember right, but should it?

This is my two sets for playing. I don't know how you losing money?

With my set 1. I earning nice amount of gold.

With my set 2. earning, but not too much. (for example I play siege this Saturday and at evening with set 2. I earned 10 000 gold in couple hours.)

Maybe, but my one-handed weapon skill is the same, and my weapon repairs less after buying a cheaper one. I have determined this after days of playtime and at least 50+ matches, to make sure it was not bad luck.
