100 ping what playstyle?

Ive been doing 1h shield my first gen and it's been pretty fun but I envy the speed and power of a 2h and the range of a polearm.

My ping is always between 85-100 is it safe to say that I should steer away from 2h and polearms?

No. I'd say it's still possible. Just favour the longer weapons and you'll be fine.

Should I go for a more ath build so i can dart in and out better since im slower or more towards a strength build so i can take the inevitable hits.  I was thinking a 27 12 build

27/12 sounds about right. Essentially, you won't be punished as much by the mistakes that your higher ping will encourage. Though I should note that it's not bad. Blocking is still very possible, as is chambering. In fact, a lot of great manual blockers who often employ chambers have that ping. You just can't take chances that rely on you hitting first.

I would recommend avoiding slow or short ranged weapons. 100ms isn't absurd for blocking but it won't do you any favors for timing. A good spammable weapon like the bec or a greatsword will do well if you backpeddle. With weapons like the flamberge or the swiss poleaxe, you will probably have problems if they are able to get in your face.

I like the bec but wouldnt you describe it as pretty slow at 93?  I think Ill heirloom my sidesword for my first since you cant go wrong with  a sidesword and I know 1h will work out for me if 2h or polearm doesnt.

*faceplam* long weapons... the Bec is around 1h swords length, polearms get a - length from the grip. Be more ambitious.

its tough with a short weapon but you adjust

Lately my ping hardly drops below 100 on EU servers and I do just fine with blocking. You just have to react 0,1 sec faster than on SP

nah im stuck in the horrible state of WA.  Probably move to the east coast at some point and ping will be way better.

I always played with 80-100 ping and it's good tough on 100+ at least for me blocks/attacks start to change position alone but I usually have a stable ping on 80 when I'm playing.

I personally prefer the 5k-10k armours, but the sub-plate armours work, too.

Go polearms, grab a Long Hafted Blade and enjoy.

I would avoid playing as 1h and archers your timing on 1h will kill you.
2h and polearms should be good.
if you get alot of high lagspikes i might try cav.
i did that once when i was having internet issues and when i started to spike i would ride away; saved me from many lagdeaths

my guess would be that builds with some points in iron flesh would be beneficial as it is harder to block every strike.
