Rage Thread. [STEAM UPDATE]

I only play seige these days and i love it.

I go on there and kill as many people as possible then leave.

Since the warband update on steam my crpg launcher and wse isnt working so im loading through steam which results in a fucking mess in game but i have pressed on in the hope that the devs on here will pull there fingers out.

Im greatful for this mod but fuck me hurry up.

Also any comments about just downloading the game separately can piss off im lazy and just want to kill people.

Launch WSE, click "play warband", click through any error messages, join a game (it says "scary message" click ok, you will continue to join the server).  There's a sticky post from cmp explaining this.

extract files into your steam warband folder (steamapps/common/mountblade warband - where warband.exe is)
overwrite files.  reverts game to previous version. 

profit.

a few days inconvenience is well worth the overall gaming experience that Steam gives me.

Not to mention you can still play the game fine if you follow some of the other posts here

Well I agree that I really like STEAM as of the last 5 years.  But when I was a big Counter-strike whore (1.5 and previous versions) i was really reluctant to get 1.6 on STEAM.  And it was a valid reason, because servers could no longer be in charge of version control.  Every week STEAM updated CS 1.6 and changed the game mechanics.  Previously in Counter-strike every "update" had to come in a new version, so servers and gamers could decide if they wanted to play on the new version or not.  I remember playing 1.3 for a long time after 1.5 came out (after a brief 1.4 release).  I still think CS 1.5 is the best version that was ever made.  Or possibly the very first versions of 1.6.  Source is a bastardization of CS, just like every "source" version of an original HL game.  DOD:S, TF2, etc, they all suck (as far as gameplay is concerned) compared to their original Half-life mod.

This is what im doing now, which gets me on to the server but certain maps dont have sound and others do, so wishing for a hotfix ( sounds simple but im sure its not ( or it is and they cant be arsed ) )

Redownload v1.143 from TW. The game is only 1Gb big anyway.
