As far as a quick striking (spam) build... 2-Hander is actually great. But you'll need to go an Agility Build, where you have more Athletics & Weapon Master (i.e. Weapon Proficiency) over Power Strike & Iron Flesh (i.e. Hit Points).

I personally use Build #2. It has more HP (Iron Flesh) but less WPF in 2-Handed (cause less Weapon Master).
But for a spammer, I'd think Build #1 would be better. It's only down side is that it's a little low on the HP side. And if you want to be quick, you should only wear light or medium armor... so you won't be able to greatly rely on your armor to survive.
What that means is... you'll have to learn to block! But in truth, to be good with any class or any style... blocking is essential. With that said, having quick feet and quick swings will certainly help (especially once you learn to block). On top of it all... having such quick swings... you'll at least get some kills while your trying to learn to block. I know it can get frustrating. I've only played for about a month. About a week ago, I was playing, and all of a sudden, the game seemed to slow down. I could actually see swings coming and block them. Now don't get me wrong, I still suck... still die a lot... and still have a long way to go. But I've seen progress... and it came all at once. As if there's steps... or phases... to the learning process.
Lastly let's talk about your 2-Handed weapon selection... a key to spamming (along with footwork). Most spammers tend to go with the Katana. It's the fastest 2-Hander. However, if you're like me, you don't want to look like an out of place Medieval knight carrying around a Samurai sword. So your other two options for speed are the Longsword or Heavy Bastard Sword (HBS). Really not much difference in these weapons. Check them out for yourself in the shop. Almost identical stats. And in truth, both are decently cheap (mid-ranged price for 2-Handers). Buy both, and see which on you like best.
There's other 2-Handed options as well. The Danish Greatsword is probably the most popular (it's what I use). So folks really like the German GS. I've heard it has animations that are harder to pick up (but I've never used it). Both of these (along with all GS's) have much great reach and damage than the LS or HBS. But at the cost of speed. So the GS's may not be for you. If you do like them... also look at the Highland Claymore and the Sword of War (other popular GS's).
Lastly you have the Flamberge. Huge GS. Slowest, but greatest reach and damage. And you can't sheath it (meaning you can't put it on your back). But that shouldn't be an issue, as you'll be a dedicated 2-Hander. Being so slow, it's probably not for you. But if somehow you could spam it... I'd think you'd be bad news!!!
